I first thought that scene was hilarious when I saw the movie in the 80’s; but on subsequent views of the movie, I skip it, since I consider the length excessive and distracting and the scene in poor taste when taken into consideration with the writer’s and producer’s primary goals for the book and script, respectively.

I never analyzed it that thoroughly. I never liked hands-free eating.
