That’s a tough one. I was thinking 60 total would win. I’m taking Joey, with 59….but, watch out for Eater X – if anyone upsets them all, it’s him!

At this time Koby has lots of confidence and little, if any, jaw pain. When two eaters are of equivalent talent, it seems to me that the more confident eater will win most of the time. Right now that’s Koby. You can see it in his face and his mannerisms.
Eater X might well do a few more than 40, which is a stupendous achievement, but a 50-dog eater he is not. I don’t care what was recorded at the qualifier … and I do not blame Eater X. He’s one of the most honest eaters.

Maybe, Rhonda, you should offer to bet Eater X some $$$, because I think he would probably take you up on it.

Oh Rhonda, in my humble opinion, you stepped firmly in the elephant poo this time. X is X!!!

Rhonda, how about this: If Eater X eats 50 or more hot dogs on the Fourth of July, you promise never to post on this site ever again, not even to say that you’re sorry or to apologize or to admit that you were wrong?
Okay?
Deal?

You may be right Rona. I’ve stepped in it before, but I’m not knocking X, just the counting —- or overcounting by one or two plates (five to 10 dogs).
It’s hard for this pea-sized brain of mine to conceive how someone can eat 50 HDBs, and yet can’t put forth a performance even close to that in other foods —- oysters, clams, crawfish, etc, etc.
It just doesn’t pass the logic test, and I’m too much of a realist to just throw my hands up and say great job every time someone is given credit for an absurd number. If it happens again two more times I’ll believe it.

Hardly a “catfight,” but merely an expressed difference of opinion with one of the few posters on this site whom I wholeheartedly respect and value the opinion of.
All of us would do well to try to emulate Rona Conti. She’s a class act all the way!

No catfight indeed! Not sure that I am deserving of the compliment, but it is happily received with Thanks. I wasn’t a witness, and even if I were there, noone can be so up close and personal as to be sure of anything at any contest, in my opinion. Each person’s vantage point is different. Tim was third last year at Nathan’s, if memory serves. That could only have happened through incredible commitment to a goal and practice. Each food is different. It is almost one year later. The proof will be in the bundogs on the 4th. Now that will be a dogfight. I cannot wait to witness this year!

Eater X is one of my second tier favorite eaters virtually right up there with Koby, Sonya, Badlands, and Crazy Legs. His competitive eating IQ is second to none. Show him one time and he’s got ‘er down pat! Tim not only strives to be the best he can be at CE, he’s also one of the most honest eaters you’ll ever find.
I might be way out in left field with the notion that his 50-dog performance in the qualifier might have been a miscount. Hell, I was neither there, nor saw any video. I was just venting because of my vicarious experience with miscounts (in many different foods) in the past. Plates stick together, and when one suddenly becomes two, well, that’s a difference of five dogs.
I honestly hope I’m wrong and I hope he does eat 50 or more on the 4th.
