The great Bob Shoudt will run away and hide in this one. He just got done whipping the number 1 eater in the world so whipping Bertoletti and the girl will be childs play. The poor girl will probably run away crying shell get beat so bad. I almost feel sorry.

Is bob shoudt going to compete in every single MLE event from here on in? It appears to look that way.

Pat and Sonya are far and away the two best jalapeno pepper eaters in the world from my perspective. I think Erik The Red and Tim Brown are awesome in JPs also, but they’re no match for Sonya or Pat.
Notorious Bob would be best served by avoiding this one, unless the IFOCE is flying him out free. Otherwise, the (financial) risk-reward ratio appears to be unfavorable for him.

Tim you just have to go to NBOBs site to see where he will be. No need to speculate. Too bad for you that Ben doesn’t post his schedule, then you could do your day trading those days.
Rhonda don’t forget about Booker and Hunt.

ESPN.com has posted an item about this contest: It’s Black Widow vs. Deep Dish on eating contest
——————————————————————————–
Last year at the La Costeña Feel the Heat Jalapeño Eating Championship Challenge in Chicago, Pat “Deep Dish” Bertoletti ate 209 pickled jalapeños in 8 minutes. Only problem is so did Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas. The two competitive eaters faced off in a 1-minute overtime, where Thomas ate an additional 41 peppers to take the title away from the defending champ. “Deep Dish” Bertoletti, who won the challenge in 2007 and 2008, remembers it all too well. “It was one of the most humbling experiences ever. I had to watch Sonya cheer,” he said. “It really pissed me off because I was in front of my home crowd and I let them down and I let myself down especially.” On Sunday, they will rematch at the Fourth Annual La Costeña Jalapeño Eating Championship which will take place in San Antonio this year. The contest is sanctioned by Major League Eating and there is $5,800 in cash prizes on the line. The star-studded field includes Erik “The Red” Denmark, Badlands Booker and an upstart to the competitive eating world, Nick “The Gorgin’ Goblin” Bauer. Still the favorites have to be Bertoletti and Thomas who, oddly enough, don’t even like spicy food. “With pickled jalapeños it seems like they’re hot just for the sake of being hot,” said Bertoletti, who’s a professional chef. “I like flavor versus heat.” Thomas agreed. “I don’t like spicy food, but I can handle it,” she said. “I don’t care what kind of competition it is, I just do it.”

Yeah, I don’t think Tim is “Luther” because Tim actually likes girls. “Luther” only likes to watch sweaty men swallow things.

There is also another newcomer, me, that will be competing too!! Dont count me out just yet. The others competing are legends and do deserve the status of favorite but the one thing about wrecking balls is they cannot be stopped!! See you in San Antonio

Wrecking Ball … oh you’ll be stopped all right. If you eat half of Pat’s or Sonya’s total, you will have done an excellent job!

In this article from Gazette Enterprise on the La Costena contest, a local guy named Randy Harrison who is competing on Sunday claims he beat Sonya in baked beans in 2002. But according to the OJ database Sonya’s first CE competition wasn’t until 2003 and the first time she ate beans she won with over eight pounds several years later. What’s up with that? I never heard of this guy?

The contest where Randy Harrison finished ahead of Sonya Thomas took place in October 2004

The beans were extremely hot. Winner Dale Boone dumped cold water on his beans before the contest.

Randy Harrison is a cool guy, he was in Laredo the last time MLE was there for jalapenos in ’08, he handed out some CD’s with his country songs.
I have no idea what to expect for this contest, pickled jalapenos are all about body chemisty on the day of for me. I am getting married next week and have not exactly been thinking about eating lately, it will be a nice mental break to focus on something else for a weekend.

The black widow was never the same after Randy Harrison got done with her. I think it really shook her confidence. Hes a threat to beat her again Sunday and no doubt shes running scared of him. It will be an easy victory for Pat either way.

I’m not a threat to the top eaters. I made it very clear to the paper that the beans were extremely hot. I consider this the high point of the eating I have done to date. I’m more of a local eater. I also play music and write some too. I’m just proud to be associated with the people in the sport.
