Competitive eating only benefits in a monetary sense Molly Schuyler, Chestnut, Sudo and Stonie. The rest are just wasting their time their gas and airfare.

@11:54 am, many eaters obviously do not compete for the money. Waste of time, gas, money? Some people gamble money away. It is all a matter of how you choose to use your time and money. They enjoy it. Otherwise, they would be doing something else. They make friends, travel, have new experiences. Many of the retired eaters maintain their friendships with those still eating and others who have also stopped competing.

Once you retire the eaters that made believe they were your supposed friends stab you in the back and call you the filthiest dirtiest names on this site

@1:52, that may be your experience but it is not at all standard. The most gentlemanly eaters do not come on this site often because there are too many ridiculous comments. Stick to CE talk and not slamming someone else and their families or friends.
