The girl does have international appeal that stretches to all corners of the globe. 🙂
Given Koby’s hiatus of unpredictable duration, I don’t know of one other competitive eater that people associate with as much as The Black Widow. Crazy Legs is probably next. The IFOCE took a gamble pushing Joey, which, as of yet, has yet to pay off (talk about an understatement). Koby’s absence has created a vacuum with a giant sucking sound.
As such, MLE would be better utilizing Crazy Legs and Eater X in marketing efforts, because those two have personality and sex appeal (and are also world class eaters), and they express themselves on camera and on paper better than any other duo in the game. They should be leveraged more, so that the rest of the players can get noticed.
If the IFOCE had been using more of that strategy over the past 6 months, and exercised less greed, I’d venture to say that there would have been at least a half dozen contests that ML eaters could have participated in since November (even though a bit less coin would have flowed into the IFOCE’s gilded pockets).
Ah … what the hell do I know anyway. (That’s rhetorical, by the way …)

Rhoinda it really infuritates the crap out of me that you never ever mention or consider BB or Don Lerman marketable personalities. Its always Crazy Legs and Eater X. Do you think BB is dysfunctional and cannot express himself on camera? Lerman would provide a great deal more entertainment wise than Crazy Legs or EaterX by just his presence alone . If Crazy Legs and Eater X were such great marketable personalities , the ratings in both SPIKE shows would have hit the roof. Both are very well spoken with great command of the engish language but at the same time spell the word BORING! I think the last line sums it up best “Ah what the hell do i know anyway”

It disappoints me that people resort to using anonymous instead of their own names.
Your logic is a bit neurotic. You seem to believe that a person’s not being the best at something means he is not highly regarded. Brian is very good at it–one of the best. Don Lerman is very good at it–one of the best.
There’s no need to allow yourself to feel slammed. My opinion is only my opinion. I could be wrong, though not by too much.
One doesn’t have to be the best to still be a great contrubutor. Relax and enjoy the holidays.

On Rhonda’s final note, I want to say Happy Holidays to the CE Community. I’m grateful for the new friendships I made this year and for the opportunities I’ve gotten to get to know other people better. Alot of people put ALOT of extra effort to add to the richness of this experience, and it makes a wonderful difference. (OJ, BB, Moses, Carr, MM, Liz are some of the media talents that do this for free) Many others have been very kind to me this year, and I want to wish you all a fine Holiday. Also a big thanks to the offices of the IFOCE & AICE who work their buns off trying to find us worthy challenges.
I’m sorry if I havent been much of a presence lately, but work has gotten me into the Boston Crab. I look for to competing against most of you and beating all of you, heavy handidly.
Stay gold Pony Boy, stay gold…..

Hey anonymous both BB and DML can hold their own on camera. But only the ce folks would apreciate it………crazy legs and x are young and they have good camera personalities and women cream their pants over them……….can you say the same for yourself or DML……….i think no……….not to diminish BB & DML at all but they wouldnt pull the key demographics……….

If you want to hear an overlooked eater who knows how to handle media appearances, go to http://www.99x.com, then check the podcast of the First Annual Nog Off Contest that happened this week in Atlanta. It was Super! That’s a clue….Happy Holidays everyone!!

I stayed off this site for awhile because it was becoming a haven for haters and i was tired of stooping to their level and losing the respect of the CE community. First off i want to thank Don Lerman for the kind words. I looked up to him from the beginning because he is truly a legend of the sport. People do not realize what he has accomplished in the sport of competitive eating in such a short period of time. Two or three years later he had a second wind and captivated everyone with 6lbs of beans in 1:46. I was there and noone will ever break that record . I also want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah . This was a rough two weeks at the post office. Holiday season and loads of mail has kept me from updating the site in a productive manner. There will be more BB corner shows for the new year and some interesting new guests . I will not attempt to qualify for wingbowl. Not my place anymore. Let the new kids have fun. I might head out to WIP studio to cheer on a fellow eater in his attempt to qualify for wingbowl next month. Hopefully Angelo and Al will allow me in the building. Congrag to Wing Kong , Steak, US Male, Good luck to Pistol Pete and Humble Bob in their stunts. Pat B and the sour cream. Pat is a legend and should have no problem whatsoever. As far as comparing me to Eater X and Crazy Legs in the hearthrob department, i lose hands down.Don has a better shot than i do. No woman is going to cream in their pants over me unless they been smoking some heavy shit. Rhonda knows her stuff i give her credit. Be nice and i might come back to this site from time to time .

May Santa give comp. eating the gift of a separate girls league for Christmas. There perhaps the two or three Americans that compete might somehow earn a place in the top 10 in the world where the younger and sexier Japanese women dominate both in looks and ability.
