According to the eatfeats database, yesterday’s Binga’s Tender Bender contest was the first time Sonya Thomas won a contest “Notorious” B.O.B. Shoudt competed in since the 2007 Buffalo Buffet Bowl contest. The victory gives Sonya wins over Bob in 2 out of 3 contests in 2010 after having only one win (at the controversial Atlantic City crawfish contest) in seven contests in 2009.     I have to give it to Bob. He started off unfirecracker-like, but he made slow, steady improvement between 2003 and 2006, and then his improvement rate increased substantially the next three years. And 2009 was a statement year!

    Being able to host a show in excess of 45 min or longer separates the men from the boys. Using competitive eating as an example and stealing a line from Brad Sciullo in the Furious Pete video “They get too tired they cant handle 12 min so they create these 3-5 minute heat” Same applies to amateur broadcasters because they dont have the know how or the mental capacity to carry a 60 min show like i have . Matter of fact some of my BB corner shows lasted 90 min. Just ask Charles Hardy, Joe Menchetti, Don Lerman & Tim Janus whom i interviewed 45 min or longer. And to sweeten the pot, El Toro took BB corner to another level by co hosting a west coast edition doing a live remote from Nathans qualifier in Vegas which included an hour long interview with the Lefevre’s . This is what is referred to as talent without recogniton.Its in the blood either you are born with it or you aint. And super talents like myself , Toro & Superpaul were born with it and you cant take that away from us. I put together 26 shows over the course of 3yrs on my own with no help whatsoever I asked for nothing in return . Just watch and enjoy. Not all of them were masterpieces. Some i admit were duds but were all the Ed Sullivan & Johnny Carson shows great? Of course not. The fact of the matter is MLE ( and i use the name MLE as to not point out specific names ) made a choice as to who would represent them in the media. Was it the right choice? Matter of opinion but lets just use the word choice and not refer to it as the right or wrong choice. I say in their mind it was the only choice because the person they chose was the face that tv viewers are accustomed to . If Paul Barlow , Toro , or myself or anyone else for that matter were the face you were accustomed to seeing on the tube, someone like a Rhonda Evans would probably say something like this ” Oh Super Paul is the logical choice how can MLE go with anyone else” Or Torp or Brian etc etc.As fate had it , Crazy Legs Conti was the guy they wanted because of his coy and articulate approach He was the first and only choice and because he came across as an english lit major on the big screen , it became a mountain of a task for any of us to fill his shoes especially in the eyes of Rhonda Evans. Everyone has their own style and to say this one is more articulate than this one or that one is a very narrow minded and idiotic perception of another human being abilities . Rhonda i appreciate your kind words in regard to my defunct show but when you make statements in regard to Crazy Legs superior talents you come off as a classroom teacher showing bias favortism to the class pet. Think about it

    Everytime I (or anyone else, for that matter) pat someone on the back other than you, you interpret that as a smack against you. I even took up for you in the Binga Tender Bender Challenge thread. (Perhaps you didn’t read it yet.)

    Yes, Crazy Legs is my favorite “Eatcaster.” I also think Pretty Boy Davekos is very, very underrated in expressing himself concerning CE. X does an excellent job too. But that does not mean I detest everybody else, nor does it mean I’m right. That’s just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.

    As an example, I think I’m a fairly good writer, but several eaters and fans are undoubtedly better than me. I accept that. This is earth, not heaven. Though I might pride myself in having some above average abilities, I don’t exclusively base my self-esteem on them.

    In all walks of life, talent and ability are on a continuuum, and there’s very rarely a pile up at extremes—-pretty much ascribing to the normal distribution of the bell curve, with just over two-thirds of the people being at or near the middle.

    For what it’s worth BB, I think you are near the top wrung of the CE broadcast ladder. Who could replace the dry wit you exhibit? No one I know of. (Let me also give a shout out to DML in that regard.)

    I’ve listened to most of your Webcast interviews with other eaters—-Menchetti was my favorite—- along with some of the podcasts (w/ Kevin Carr) you have been part of. I find you easy to listen to, understandable, intelligent about your subject, and entertaining.

    Do I think you’re absolutely the best? No.
    Do I think you’re one of the best? Yes!

    Rhonda: You know that crazy guy on the subway? The guy ranting and raving about how people are trying to get him? He can be annoying, and often very sad, and dellusional. There’s a choice you can make. You can try to reason with him. Explain to him that it’s okay, you’re probably misunderstood, stroke his ego a little, and maybe that will help. But in most cases approaching someone like that will only result in heartache and the realization that reasoning and compassion isn’t going to get him back to the real world. It’s only going to encourage is inflated view of himself and his skewed view of reality. The best thing you can do is ingnore that person. Hopefully, he’ll move on to another train, making your life better for the moment. Eventually, after being ignored for so long maybe he’ll realize that he needs some help.

    Rhonda i never said i was the best but there were times in the past where you mentioned Legs exclusively while failing to give kudos to anyone else. Granted it might have been an oversite on your part . You certaainly made up for and then some with your last post. If you included some of what you just said about me in previous posts when speaking of media talent there really would have been no need for my long and winding rebuttal. I was forced to cancel the show due to uncooperative guests and lack of motivation. I might bring it back one of these days if if there are signs of support from the CE world but i doubt that will happen

    Rhonda: See how Brian recognized that I was talking about him? The shoe fits and he’s wearing it. Notice how he feels threatened by others who offer him reality that he lashes out. So, trust you’re instincts — there is “no winning with this guy.” I guess there is some hope for him that he recognizes how society really views him, although he refuses to accept it. I just hope he gets some help before we read his manifestos in something other than Eatfeats. He obviously doesn’t know who I am as he projects his anger onto others he percieves as a threat. At the next eating contest I’ll just continue to avoid and ignore him rather than encourage him. Most eaters feel sorry for him rather than dislike him. Most eaters are laughing at him rather than with him. I feel sorry for him, because laughing at him and encouraging him is mean. I would continue to advise others to do the same.

I have only meet you and Conti one time now , and i actually enjoyed your Elvis presentation but I got to sit out on a cold day with Legs and just listen to him flow in a relaxed setting after the event. The guy has this something about him people enjoy. His mass media appeal is very strong. He is also crazy as hell.

    I just want to clarify one thing to ifoce members that do visit this site and read the crap posted about me and a few others. There is nothing wrong with me i am anything but a crazed psycotic. I voice my opinion from time time and it becomes somewhat exaggerated at times but for those that believe im foaming at the mouth and screaming at my monitor then you are just as gullible as the idiot that constantly tries to convince you that i am anything but a stable human being. Understand that people of that nature can be more vicious with comments of that sort than resorting to cursing or degrarding ones eating ability. This rotten sad waste of life whom has posted a number of times realizes that the best way to get to the juggular or malign ones credibility is to paint a portrait of me or anyone else as a crazy person. I will not escalate this topic any further for it just makes for more entertainment while OJ Rifkin piles up the hits on his sitemeter.     Note in the above posts how GS makes references to the subway which obviously points to the fact that he resides in NYC and is accustomed to using mass transit even cabbies to get around. The crazy hecklers in the subway cars only reside in NYC . It has never crossed this person mind to purchase an automobile or invest in driving lessons. Sad but true.
