Sportsbook.com is accepting bets on Takeru Kobayashi in the upcoming Nathan's finals even though he will almost certainly not compete. (Kobayashi has two non-IFOCE contests planned for August.) Sportbook.com also has Nathan's proposition bets on Eric "Badlands" Booker and Crazy Legs Conti who have yet to qualify for the finals.

I see J. Lee and Sonya are also getting head to head action in the mens division…
If Pat, Joey and X played it smart, they should throw the event, bet large on Pat or X, all 3 could walk away with Millions….

I’m sure these bets automatically cancel if any of the eaters are scratched that day, but it goes to show you that Vegas still offers these bets in spite of having absolutely no idea what’s going on. Too bad there’s a maximum bet. It’s not worth the effort.

any bets made will be “no action”. chestnut and kobayashi must compete for action. didnt check that site in the last couple of weeks but that is what it did say.

Where’s Ron Koch on that list of odds, I hear he’s going to Coney.

Sportbook.com updated this a little bit. So currently you can bet Joey vs. Everyone else without the necessity of Kobayashi competing. I could not find a list of individual competitors as maybe they are going to update that as well. I would expect this to get more up to date as the 4th approaches, including chestnut hot dog line propositions (example Joey -5.5 vs Bertoletti). BTW, This line was lower at -300 a few weeks ago. Not sure if those betting it at -300 have action as the book may have accidently put the kobayashi disclaimer with the main betting line at that time. -300 and even -400 seem like a pretty good deal.
Nice one “congrats”. I was the only one to misinterpret what was meant when it said… ‘2nd to 4th place of 2010 escondido qualifier will all be going to the finals in 2011’. Thank you so very much for reminding me. And considering Ron Koch finished 4th by some accounts the statement might not have been correct to begin with as you so mentioned.

Cutter – lol, nope, not the ONLY one 🙂 I did as well when I 1st read it but then realized what it actually meant. Phew, after seeing the slack you took for an innocent misinterpretation, glad I held off on my comment hahaha
