The Las Cruces Bulletin has an article about Stephanie Torres' plans to compete in the eating contest held at the Enchilada Fiesta on Sunday. (I have not seen results from that competition.)

I don’t think independents, collectively, will ever be on the same level as major league eaters, but in the coming decade, I’m sure the disparity will become less than it is now.

Independents will rise up and devour MLE. MLE will be out of business once they lose Nathans. Nathans does not need MLE and rumor is they are looking to dump them. Kobi and other talented non contract eaters will be big the big draws for the new Nathans contest. Once its confirmed just watch how many eaters abandon the Sheas in mass. Ask Kobi about this… he knows whats coming.

Nathan’s loves Juliet Lee too much to dump MLE.

The sheas don’t care its all about putting on a show. If the top names of the sport walked out on them they would promote beautiful Brian seiiken

Wow middle of the night anonymous, you really have the inside track. Funny how Seiken’s name keeps getting put into non-sequitor comments. Is there a link here? Now, about Nathan’s wanting to dump MLE. How ludicrous is that? Nathan’s is not a PR firm nor a competitive eating league/organization. They have loads of money power, but if they want something else or more, they will have to ask MLE to provide it. Is there someone or some other firm which could offer anything like MLE? The short answer is absolutely not. Kobayashi may think that if he wants to do Nathans hotdogs he has to go directly to Nathans and by-pass the Sheas. Lost in translation big-time. They took him off the wall. They could, of course, put him back, lots of things change. And Sonya and all MLE eaters do have choices but…….if anything they can thank those who did leave for raising their stature and opportunities. And likewise, those who became independents bettered their lives as eaters. Sponsors also benefitted, finding a way to spend less and still follow a winning model. Seems like a win-win-win.

I pay very little attention to anonymous comments here. My dad’s advice throughout my life seems most appropriate on this site: Believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see.”

Yeah, that’s cute that indies think that non unified group, with no endorsement opportunities since they have no product loyalty is going to “overtake” MLE. Besides the idies aren’t very good at eating, Kobi’s already proved that at every contest. The only way Nathan’s could sign Kobi if he signed some sort of agreement not to eat any other hot dog product. But Kobi doesn’t sign contracts. Besides, his name is already smeared with controversy and fading with all these crappy contests he’s been doing lately. Even a reporter recently questioned what the hell he was doing in minor, minor, minor league game and found it to be sad. Kobi needs Nathan’s more than Nathan’s need him. They got fantastic coverage without Kobi this year. Secondly, Anony 3:54, to show what little you really know, Sonya has MLE events scheduled through next February and a contract to boot. No Stallion, these Anony aren’t Seiken, they are too dumb to be Seiken. Just some jealous indies with no clue how competitive eating works but they like to pretend they have some inside info. Just who are these “other talented non contract eaters” the people Kobi’s been beating like a drum lately? Oh that’s real exciting stuff I’m sure ESPN would love to have MLE rejects up on stage.

Bad business move by Koby not doing Nathans and not accepting 5grand less than the rooftop gig. In the long run he competes against the same stiffs beating them by more than 50% of his final totals . He was never a circuit competitor with MLE anyhow
