Yesterday Stephanie Torres won $500 after she was the first woman to finish the six pound Calzone Challenge in under an hour at Mannie & Bo's in Golden, Colorado (via email). Andrew Lane was an eyewitness. (gallery | video 1 | video 2).

    And she (and her followers) claim she’s not all about the money? How come the only stuff she ever does has to do with $$$ prizes. Not saying its not smart to earn some cash along the way, but that seems to be ALL she does and goes way out of her way to find and complete those over local ones to her. No one can deny that.

    She was stupid to leave the MLE, especially if money is her motive.

    Why would she want to remain in MLE? She has already had a taste of their sense of fairness, which cost her second place July 4. Like Sonya she can’t beat any of the top three eaters and there aren’t many MLE contests out west, so Ms Torres was smart with her decision, not to mention her freedom.

    If she were in the leauge right now, she would probably have been invitied to one of the CP contests. Not one is that one hell of a trip compared to a bus ride to colorado, but I would have to bet that ever eater going is getting paid a good apperence fee for showing up, since there is no cash purse involved. Probably would sum to more then she’s earned in total since she left MLE.
    I guess if the freedom to do what she wants is more important to her then having to bum around to Ma&Pa challenge and contest for pocket money, then thats her choice. Unwise in my opinion.

    Here is where i have problem with her video challenges. Until a video is produced where it shows her eating from start to finish , the challenge is suspect. Anyone can produce a cleaned plate at the end . Without a progressive blow by blow , for all we know the calzone could have been dumped in the garbage

    Im sure the owners of the restaurant wouldn’t participate in her dumping their food into a garbage can and post the video on their youtube page claiming she finished.
