Matt and Fidel both kicked total butt!! Holy cow!

Me, on the other hand: I filled my cup to the top with water and when I dunked my first dog, I water overflowed from the cup and all over the contestant to my left’s plate. Ugh…I’m sorry!

Those corn dogs were thick…especially the corn bread part. I had fun…I hope I can place in the money Saturday but the field is tough. Finals are 7 minutes long.

Last year’s winner ate 13 in 10 minutes to win. He was from Minnesota but died I guess in a breath-holding accident the director told me. Very sad.

Hi Matt…after the contest I went on the stage and talked to the chief judge. I asked for the results since I wanted to report these. He gave me the names and totals and I wrote them down. But yeah, now that I think about it, I am wondering if Fidel ate that many. Maybe he gave me the wrong number?

yeah, he must have read the 4 as a 7. I definitely remember him saying 7-7/8 though. ugh…I’m sorry.

Also, if anyone wants to see pics of the contest, I posted them here:

Matt: I will change those results on my page by tonight or tomorrow morning when I have full Internet access (I’m posting this from my phone). BTW, when I saw you at the contest I knew you were going to win and that everyone else would be competing for 2nd place.. And I told the chief judge that too. And he told me “it’s always the skinny guys who win” and I laughed because it’s true! Everyone else who qualified for the finals only ate between 4.5 and 5 corn dogs.

Hey Ken, thanks so much! I have a lot of fun doing my webpage for eating contests, probably more so than the contests themselves! I apologize if I got your totals wrong. I believe you. I honestly just wrote down what the head judge told me after the contest, and I was careful to make sure I was typing accurately on my phone. He was going through his handwritten list and pointed out the top 6 and what he had for their totals. I know he said the girls were turning the cards as soon as a contestant picked up a corn dog, instead of waiting until it was done. But I am not sure. I believe you when you say you ate more than 5. In fact I remember the judge had written down you ate “5 and a bit” — those are his words, lol! He had no idea what “a bit” was and neither did I. So I will change my totals when I get ftp internet access…hopefully by tomorrow. I am on the road right now. I didn’t mean to slight you in any way when I reported 5. I think there was some trouble with the judging….for some totals they were exact and for others they were vague.

As for competing for second place, I meant to say I will be competing for second place, if that. I was not trying to sight you or the others. I was writing the post in haste. I’ve seen Matt perform and I know I can’t beat him, being as realistic as possible. I just can’t eat that fast!! I know you and everyone else will give him all you have and who knows who will win. If I had to bet, and I’m not a betting person, it would be on Matt…just because I’ve seen what he has done. I know he’s being modest, but he’s had some insane performances, like at Batterup in Fresno (6 minutes) or the Belly Buster in Santa Clara. He did the Belly Buster in like 18 minutes, while it took me 50! Again, I want to apologize for speaking for everyone. I am in no way saying you can’t or won’t win….I just know I pretty sure won’t be getting first place.

Ken: I have also added captions to some of the pics you appear in, including announcing you as the winner of semi-final heat one, now that I know which one is you!
