Times Herald on Joey Chestnut baseball cards

The Times Herald has an article about Joey Chestnut’s appearances in Topps “legend” series of baseball cards and in the upcoming MLE game. Joey says that his performance in the gyro eating contest was hindered by the gyros’ garlic sauce.

    “After accepting the fee, he signed and returned 400 cards” So did Joey have to pay to get his face on the cards? It isn’t clear from this article if it was a fee for Joey to pay, or a fee for Topps to pay him. If it was the latter, I would think that “after accepting the commision” would have been a better choice of words.

    Jesus, Carey. Do you really Topps requires its subjects to pay to be on trading cards? Why would it work that way? How backwards would that be?

    There is nothing wrong with the word “fee” either.

    Rhonda… that last comment shows how much you jock Koybayshi (i know you can’t be inferring either of the ce girls, whom you also are in love with, beating joey). No one has showed any chance of catching Joey… pat makes it interesting in the competitions joey is less inspired to compete in, but anything that joey is motivated for he doesnt lose.

    I believe it is implied that he accepted a fee by the syntax of the sentence.

    Honestly, after what Joey had said about Kobayashi, I feel he shouldn’t be on a trading card. Let him prove himself 1st. Joey hasen’t been as consistent as Kobey,yet. I honestly feel Vandam may topple Joey by next year.I know Joe’s ability has got him to the top ,but to actually hate and start the name calling just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Yes, I feel Kobey played a sneaky game ,but it wasn’t against the rules, Karma came around real quick! Joey should recognize that and just stand proudly as the “#1” CE in IFOCE. To honestly feel hate towards somebody over eating hotdogs is ridiculous. I guess Koby really did get to him all those times he lost. Joey Chestnutt is a great eater but lacks the personality to be the face of CE.

    Joey is #1 no matter how you look at it and you can put that in the bank.
