Fiesta Mexicana will hold a jalapeno eating contest tonight in Topeka, KS that will reportedly award $5000 and a trip to San Antonio for the winner. update The purses are $500/$300/$200/$100 (via comment) update #2 Teddy Delacruz won the contest.

    Registration will begin at 5:30pm next to the Fiesta stage (Lake and Atchison Streets) so if you want to participate then get there early, registration fills up fast! Limited to 30.
    We can’t wait to see everyone out there!
    1st place=$500 and a trip to San Antonio, TX (flight included)
    2nd place=$300
    3rd place=$200
    4th place=$100

    Lol that is a mistake by the paper. 1 too many zeros. The winner always wins $500. Not sure about the trip.
