U of Buffalo student competes in Buffet Bowl

The University of Buffalo student newspaper has an article by Alex Nye, who was called out of the Buffalo Wing Festival crowd to fill a vacant spot in the Buffalo Buffet Bowl. The items eaten in that event were three full beef on wecks (roast beef sandwiches on kummelweck rolls) smothered in gravy, about eight hot chicken fingers, a half dozen pierogies and around 25 chicken wings. No information is given about the other competitors other than Bob Shoudt won in a little over five minutes.

This is close to what was served, but not exactly. If those were wecks, then we’re monkeys. According to my favorite eater, they were plain kaiser (or close to kaiser) buns.

And those weren’t pierogies…they were empanadas. Close, but no.

Still, an interesting contest. If not for the rain, would have been a stellar weekend!
