    Question: so does kobayashi actually know how to speak english ? i mean, hes been competing in the u.s. since 2001 and still walks with a translator??

    I dunno where that question comes from, but anyway, he didn’t live in NY back in 2001. He pretty much made 1 week trips to NY from 2001 to 2009. I can understand him not learning english back then. He did understand basic English, and has made improvements since he actually moved to NY. He has been taking English classes for about 1 year now. That pretty much sums it up.

    BTW i would like to see Ben Monson join in. And maybe that other Ben from Canada, who as far as i know is not tied to MLE any more. I read a twitt from Koby saying more great eaters were joining the contest, so i inmediatly though about how cool it would be if they joined.

    I didn’t though about U.S. Male at first TBH. He is a great addition to the contest though. Good luck U.S. Male.

    Kobi reminds me of the scene in “Eight Men Out” when Shoeless Joe got kicked out baseball and in the waning days of his career had to compete against minor leaguers under an assumed name.

    Here is the last of my three comments with the three strike rule in place. Kobi did not get kicked out of competitive eating. He chose to be independent. There is a huge difference.

    Nobody knows if Ben Monson is dead or alive, if he is alive it seems as though he’s all but given up on CE (for now at least)… This contest is literally in Johnnie Excell back yard, so I’m sure he’ll be there. Maybe the Rich Lafevre and Goose are taking the 3-4hr drive over, Jed Donahue is also from Huntington Beach, CA…

    could be a great contest if even 1 or more of the aboved mention show up. As a side note if we lived in dream land, I’d love to see the Muscles heads Ben Monson, Furious Pete and Damon Wells go up against eacch other.

    Who cares . When he was with MLE he was too cheap to travel anywhere now all of a sudden he is independent and money is no issue? Hmm Hmm Hmmm

    Monday morning and as usual, some people need to get out and party more. USMale is being a very successful independent eater and is making his own choices and getting a chance to go up against Kobayashi, not just eat at the same table. I said this in the very first post on this thread. The only people who would post such who cares nonsense have to be people who know him from his days in MLE. Insulting doesn’t begin to cover it. I will say it again. It isn’t eatfeats which destroys anything, it is the people who post here who show their true character, even if they post anonymously.

    I really do not understand why WB and Male get blasted so much on this site. It makes no sense. Though different (WB is more soft-spoken), they are both really decent people and neither of them attack others just for the sake of being ornery.

    With me, I can understand it, but not them.

    Although I don’t know him , maybe Male doesn’t travel very far because he has other obligations to take care of in his life. According to eatfeats data he has gone to Buffalo, Myrtle Beach, Nashville, Maine & Dallas so where do you come up with your logic? Maybe as an indepenent someone is taking care of his expenses for this. You obviously don’t like the guy to make such a fictional attack.

    How many of the IFOCE, AICE & INDY eaters travel far distances constantly? Except for the top IFOCE eaters, I would say not many.

    I do! I love to travel and see different areas. I am not sure why people are critical of me either, i am pretty sure I have never done anything wrong to anybody in the eating community. I guess some people are just naturally grumpy and that isn’t the kind of support I am looking for anyway.     wrecking ball dont waste your time. THey never email anyone. Hide behind the computer and get away with any insults they can find cause this is what makes them happy. . Great way to go through life just end up dying miserably buried in potters field with no headstone

    Thanks Larell, but I feel that my continued posting on this site does little to add to competitive eating, assuming it ever did, and most of my comments anymore are just to defend people and their activities from ornery anonymous posters, which is sort of a zero-sum game: no winners.

    Posting here is not much fun anymore, and life is too short to engage in back-and-forth negative, ill-intended banter, which is what the blog portion of eatfeats is about.

    I’ll still visit, from time-to-time, but I won’t have so much to say.

    Already I can hear the cheers, and that’s A-OK!

    Rhonda, please do not go away though of course that is your choice. The only way to have some balance here is to have many opinions. If only people would stop slinging that would improve things enormously. But we have no control over other peoples postings, only our own. I would greatly miss your humor, predictions, and take on all things about competitive eating. Even sponsors now post here so the importance of your postings increases, in my view.

    Rhonda, I enjoy your post as well, from what I’m able to catch and glimpse at. I tend to be away from internet segments at a time, dont always read whats going on. Your post are easy to follow, understand, and you have something to say about topics posted as well as give your input on looking at situations and people not just from one angle. Plus, you add humor =) However, it is up to you in the end to proceed or not with comments/input. Those of us who enjoy/appreciate your insight about CE and things in general can only be lucky enough that you continue =]

    WB, I wish you the best in the contest and hope you have countless measures of fun!!
