I would say Carbone wins hands down unless he decides to sign with IFOCE which is not likely at this moment. George could always pull a fast one and sign the pizza champ just to screw over Rocco’s

Um, excuse me. I think what I’ve eaten is pretty special too and at least merits a nomination.

I’d have to look to Japan, just because of the number of times they competitively eat per year, versus the Americans. Specifically, I’d have to go with The Witch, Sugawara.
My second choice, hands down, would be John Squibb. That was an incredible WB showing, even if the wings were “fast.” And, like it or not, Wing Bowl receives more media coverage than all the other wing-eating events combined.

I disagree rondo. Captain Butthead deserves credit so does the Wing Madness Finals and all of its qualifiers. Dont down it by saying

Sugawara competed against Elizabeth Canady in the AICE vs. Japan contests.

Noted OJ, but Sugawara was never an AICE member. If association by competing against one of the organizations counts then scratch her name.

who gives a crap and why do you guys insist on using capital letters when you refer to the other members . All you are doing is feeding them respect

Despite my disagreements/personal issues with him in the past, Capt. Butthead/Sixburgh Psycho ABSOLUTELY belongs on that list.

I don’t want to interrupt this conversation. I just wanted to drop by and say hi to Rhonda and if anyone else is reading feel free to chime in.
I have heard that you (Rhonda) have been accused of being me. My name is Hank and I am an old friend of Sonya’s and I wanted to introduce myself. If you’ve been to the contests, we’ve probably met. I usually don’t chime into these comments — from my perspective CE is Sonya’s thing and I just support her as any friend would. Besides, I’ve seen people who live their lives vicariously through others and it kinda creeps me out. When Sonya and I met she wasn’t a competitive eater — we were friends then and will always be friends when her competition days are over. Now that she is competing I prefer to sit in the back, hold her stuff, shut up, and if she needs anything I try to help her out. I also try to help the other eaters out too if they need anything. The other eaters have always been so nice to the both of us — friends like “Book,” Takeru, Charles, Rich, Carlene, Pat, Joey, Juliet, etc. treat her like a sister — so it’s the least I can do is to help them out as any friend would. Most of the eaters are great people and are extremely fun to be around.
So, let me restate it – Rhonda is not Hank and Hank is not Rhonda.
But, I also wanted to clear up another matter. Sonya considers CE a professional sport. And when the clock, scales, and forks come out, she takes it very seriously. So, when people comment on her temper after she feels she hasn’t been treated fairly, that just underscores her love and respect for the sport. Did you ever see a baseball manager idly sit back in the dugout when their team was called out and was clearly safe? Sonya believes in weighing the food, she’s not crazy about dunking, and always taking ownership of your discards after the competition. Geroge, Richard and Ryan do their best, but for her, the more you can remove intangibles and judgment calls, the better it is for the integrity of the sport. Sure, sometimes at competitions she’s accused of taking it too seriously, but how many professionals do you know that don’t take their sport seriously? Does she like to lose? Of course not, and once again, show me a professional that likes to lose and they won’t be in the major leagues very long. And, ask any eater, when Sonya loses fair and square she’s the first one to give her competition a big hug and high five.
There’s an old story about a professional football coach who told a ref that was making bad calls that the NFL stands for “Not For Long” when it comes that ref’s tenure in the pros. Regarding Sonya’s notorious temper, if she feels she’s being treated unfairly MLE stands for “My Love for Eating.”
One more thing Rhonda, a little advice that Sonya and I follow while anonymous people often come down hard on you — don’t let it get you down. When people who don’t even know Sonya try to slam her and be crude, she just laughs it off — besides criticism comes with the territory. I also want to point out that even though you’ve sometimes been tough on Sonya, you’ve always been fair and that’s what we respect.
If you’re ever at contest that Sonya and I are attending, please come over and say hi. So, for Sonya it’s off to Norfolk. It’s time for me to sit in the back, hold my friend’s stuff, and shut up.

Let’s not forget Gentleman Jerry Coughlin and his few wing bowl final finishes. He gave Chestnut a good run one year.

Hank, there is a difference between a sore loser and taking the sport seriously. Storming out of a contest in a huff just because you thought the judging was unfair is nothing more than unsportsmanlike conduct. You might not be Rhonda but you are or were the editor of sonyatheblackwidow.com. If you deny that accusation then you are a liar .

Hey anonymous. I wasn’t the editor nor was I the writer of sonya’s website. But, I guess you wouldn’t know that since you have no connection with anybody in competitive eating and live a sad anonymous life.
Unlike you, as a professional writer I have the guts to associate my name with anything I write. If that’s your opinion of Sonya, that’s fine. Your anonymous opinion doesn’t mean anything. Because, as Webster’s points out, since you call yourself anonymous you admit that you “lack individuality or personality.” If you want to sit anonymously in your mom’s basement, scratching your soiled underwear, eating hotpockets, writing offensive comments, and calling people unsubstantiated names that’s your business. In America everyone has a right to be a loser and you’ve apparently taken full advantage of that right.
Oh wait a minute anonymous, now I remember you — you were the kid in the school yard who called people names then ran away and hid behind a tree. Yes, that’s it, you were that sad underachiever who couldn’t compete in any sport, but would always complain about the team from the stands. Yes, although you never participated or were associated with anyone who played the game, you’re that sad person sitting at the end of the sports bar ranting on about how to fix the team.
I am honest about who I am. I guess you are just ashamed about who you are and would prefer to be anonymous. Although that’s understandable since you are a sad, anonymous person, leading a sad anonymous life.
As often is the case Rhonda is right. People who write anonymously should be ignored. So, I’ll take her advice and now ignore you as you hide behind your tree.
