    She was uncontested in the contest She ate 5 hot dogs and she paying her own way to NY. What is the point ? Please tell me

    When I first started competing, if you told me that I could have competed on the 4th of July by eating 5.5 hot dogs in a qualifier and paying my way to Coney Island, I would have jumped at the opportunity. Her participation may do nothing to elevate the event, but one can hardly criticize her for wanting to be there and compete. It’s an opportunity for her to do something she’s wanted to do, and which, regardless of the ease with which she qualified, she’s earned fairly it and squarely. On her blog, Val acknowledges the oddness of the difference between her abilities and those of the top female eaters, and that’s honest and about all even the most cynical of us should expect of her. It’s not like they eased the standards for qualifying so that she could there on the 4th.

    On Brian Siken website it shows a pic of Valerie Bronman and Lorraine Lipsitz . Both look almost identical. Underneath there is a pic of Marvin Hamlish and Krazy Kevin. Again almost identical

    Val is the type of person MLE wants on 4th of july, people like seiken do nothing for MLE and only gives competitive eating an ugly smelly face
