Does anyone remember what the max number of tickets you can purchase at one time is? The UEPa posse will at least 10 strong and partying through the night (and napping through the actual eating contest).

also of Note is that the event is scheduled for the Wachovia Spectrum (older stadium next door) and not the Wachovia Center (where it’s been in recent years)

Who cares?. This event is restricted for philly natives only. I assume you are exited because you have a good chance of getting in this year same as last year. What about the people that dont reside in philly or jersey or the ifoce handpicked 5 they intend on sending to the wingbowl? Is that fair to others? I dont think so.

I know many of you hate WingBowl and thats fine, I have firsthand understanding of the reasons. I’m posting relavent info about the event in the correct topic, so maybe you should be the one to butt out. Mr Anonymous (if that’s who you really are)

The IFOCE isnt the one that put the restrictions on the event. WIP wanted more of the locals involved because they bring bigger enterauges and make better floats. They get in the paper and get all misty eyed about having a chance at a car. WIP also likes to see big fat guys eat.

If the event was run by the IFOCE you could be sure that it would be by weight and more than the top 5 would be invited.

There’s also plenty of Eaters who are coming for the show, even though they cant eat in the contest. The info is for them.

It was probably moved to the smaller, older building because its difficult to fill all those seats when its not free, & the Eagles WON”T be in THE BIG GAME, atleast not this year.

Yes, it may sell out, but that doesn’t include the 10,000. tix they give away on air & at other promos. When you don’t pay for something, you usually perceive it to have little value, & don’t use it.

I can confirm, after talking to WIP today, that the WIng Bowl was not moved to the Spectrum. It is in the Wachovia center again. The Spectrum listing was an error.

It will be no probelm selling out all the seats this year Joe. Either way, who cares how the seats are filled? The fact that people come at 6am to see this means they want to witness one of the greatest eating events put on. Jealously will get you nowhere.

I am in the business of selling tickets, I know of what I speak.

I’ve competed in Wing Bowl. While I am disappointed that I have not been allowed to compete since, because of involvement by an organization that tried to kill it.

Its the entire spectacle, not the eating. The nearly naked women have nothing to do with it.

I am not jealous. If I was jealous, I think it would get me somewhere, like half way around the world.

US Male in your mind it’s a great eating event because you will have the chance to compete while others wont. You would be jealous like everyone else if you were not allowed to compete because of location or other restrictions. I am sure the entire competitive eating world cannot wait to read steakbellie’s 4 page report on his wingbowl experience . Does anyone care?

I’ve been barred from wingbowl, because I was under 21 the past few years. The worst part I’m only 15 min away from the stadiums. Eating or drinking its a great time.

Get over it. The promoters have the right to restrict entry to whomever they choose. Imagine if they changed it and no locals, except IFOCE members, got in. The locals would have a legitimate bitch, since the event was founded on their participation. If you think it’s unfair to you, get your municipality to hold their version of it and don’t let US MALE compete. Then you’re even. Mick Jagger said it best “You can’t always get what you want…”

BTW I hope Brad Scuillo gets an IFOCE invite. He did a tremendous job in Buffalo and puts on quite a show. But, if he doesn’t, its no more unfair than the other dozens of IFOCE eaters who’d like to compete and won’t.

Get over yourselves. Promoters can select whomever they want to compete in their shows. The event was built on the backs of locals, not IFOCE eaters. It would be unfair to them if they weren’t allowed to compete. If you don’t like it and think its unfair, get your municipality to put on a show and don’t let US MALE compete. Mick Jagger said it best “You can’t always get what you want..”

BTW I hope Brad Sciullo gets in. He’s a great eater and put on a hell of a show in Buffalo. But, if he doesn’t, thats the way it is. There are dozens of other IFOCE eaters who’d also like to compete.

Ok fine let the promoters select whoever they want but you guys seem to gloat about this while others cannot. “Golly wingbowl is coming” I cant wait ? I have to pick a costume or an entourage. It’s like little kids bragging about a big present or a big trip mommy and daddy have planned for them. Why dont you guys call each other on the phone and share your joy amongst yourselves instead of running on eatfeats and sharing information that is useless to people that will not be chosen for the event .The IFOCE should withdraw participation and let the philly people have their local event like the old days. That will solve the entire problem.

no, you are not like guerillas.

on rare occassion I’ve seen where it would be benificial to post as anonymous, but the VAST majority of people use it to say nasty things without any accountability. It’s caused far more harm then good and has made a valuable social center for our sport into something wet and nasty.

And if they wanna get into to a Wing Bowl, tell their to start bothering their local maniac radio stations – I say a Wing Bowl in every state would be great-Don’t blame Philly, blame those unimagitive losers in your town!!

I didn’t get in, and was I on here crying and bitching…No. So either man-up and post w/ your name or be quiet…

Perhaps the haters outside the area, the pussies who cannot use their real identity, should call their local sports talk station and have them begin their very own Wing Bowl. I think having the IFOCE bring in 5 eaters sucks, because the premise of this event was a fun, local event only. So what if we get excited to parade out there in front of thousands, with our costumes and entourages. Do you get pissed because you cannot participate in the MArdi Gras parade or the local Thanksgiving or Veterans day parade? STOP WHINING!

    Yo, whats up Kong!

Did they announce that they’re doing the 5 IFOCE eater format again? Every year the entry rules change. Now that Wingador is in it, I wouldn’t be surprised if they take all challengers.

To Mike I wanna say yea I agree Brad is a very good eater but you cant use Buffalo to say that with. Who did he beat? Yeah he beat Bumbling Bob but look how bob finished in last WB. He didnt even make the first cut.

Brad did amazingly well, for any eater, but especially considering his limited CE experience. I don’t think its fair to him to disparage his accomplishment. He’s got a lot of potential that has yet to be realized.

  32. Anonymous said

    December 1, 2007 @ 5:58 pm

Mike I agree with you about Brads potential. Im just saying that the potential was there without considering the Buffalo wing contest because he didnt beat anyvody and actually lost to a nobody. But he is still a very good eater.

I know you don’t like women in CE, but Sonya was amazing that day. I would never call her a noboby after that performance. Chip Simpson was 2nd and Brad was 3rd. That’s a hell of a showing, in my opinion. I know its the truth, because Brad and I were shoulder to shoulder that day. He’s a real up and comer. Watch him over the next couple of years. It’ll be interesting.

There is ONE reason and ONE reason alone that WIP has made the stupid decision to make Wing Bowl 17 a Philly-only event – THEY COULD NOT GET KOBAYASHI TO COMPETE!!

I was on the floor last year and heard Chestnut state to the reporters that he was retired from the Wing Bowl. Once he stepped away from the reporters, I asked him if he would come back next year if Kobayashi was here. He said, and I quote …”Yeah, that would make a difference in my decision. I LOVE beating that guy!” I can not describe the fire that was in his eyes when he said it.

I ran and told Angelo, but they obvioulsy decided not to take any action. Why not get the best of the best on stage? Then, they should take a chapter from the Philly Marathon and give a big award to highest Philly eater.

I’ll still be there, but do would we want to see the Phillies win the world series, but not against the best of the best? Hell no! And we don’t want to see the best Philly eater take the crown unless he/she is THE BEST.
