I think coon dogs quotes are worse for the cause then the author himself , he just did not get it.

When you trot out a 400+ pound man into a room full of normal-sized people, then he shockingly eats more than anyone, you should expect some ridicule. That’s just common sense, especially when you trumpet yourself as some kind of “champ.” What type of reaction do you think most people would have? It’s not about how some reporter is a “dick” or anything else. It’s about some big fat guy (“I’m going on a diet.”) simply perpetuating the same old tired stereotype that most people associate with eating competitions. I wish they could at least have found a small to medium size eater that doesn’t so easily play right into the easiest embarrassing perception. Don’t get upset with the author – you asked to be the brunt of a joke when you walked in the room. Not hating, just pointing out the obvious.

I thought he clarineted himself more than he trumpeted himself.

@OJ – I was actually surprised by that. What can you do. I’ve removed my blog. The gentleman can have this one.
@11:01 – If you actually pay attention, you’d realize the whole “champ” thing is a character. I don’t trumpet myself as anything. I’m just a normal dude that likes the attention. As I said in the blog, since it appears you actually read it, I didn’t necessarily have a problem with the tone of the article itself, just the falseness of the writer.
