The winning amounts from last year’s Nathan’s qualifiers are listed below. The winners with the two lowest totals will not be competing in the upcoming qualifiers. Crazy Legs Conti has already qualified and Dale Boone has left the IFOCE. Joey Chestnut will not need to qualify either as he is the defending champion.

Every one knows Brian Subich never ate 27 HDB. That list should include The Shredder with 26 and Gravy Brown with 25. Those totals are legit.

I really do not look for Koby to compete this year. I hope I’m wrong, but I will be surprised if he shows up. But IF he does it will only be because he has experienced keeping down at least 65 hot dogs.
This will be virtually impossible, however, because of Koby’s small size, and I believe Koby knows this. I now believe Joey can probably do a few more than the 63 he ate last year, but not 70. (I know, he was given credit for 66.) Pat can probably hit 55, but he will likely have shot his wad with that total.)
These totals I’ve mentioned are unbelievable. I think that anybody who can do 25 or more deserve much more recognition than they get. This is especially true for the smaller eaters like Koby, X, Rich, Sonya, and Juliet.

A New York based production company is seeking someone from the NY City region who wants to be the star of their own show. We are currently exploring the idea of creating an independent film tracking the journey of an unheralded eater whose goal is to reach the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest on July 4th. The all-access filming would stretch from pre-qualifiers, to the qualifying round, which could be at Shea Stadium, and through to the final in Coney Island. Is this something that the Sheas approved of? I am not sure what they would do, but it would suck getting all of that footage and find out in the end that you can’t use it if the person signs the contract to compete at Coney, unless you want to give away the rights to the documentary. This is just speculation, of course. You would have to call them and find out.

I dont mean to call Pat Philbin fat, but he foots the bill here. He’s so freaking funny and his physical comedy is great. He’s in the right Geographic Location and also has a real chance of making the final table.
as far as ‘unheralded’ I hope you mean that in comparison to Joey and Koby. The days of an unknown making it to July 4th are over.

what about my boy US MALE,he lives close,hes pretty funny,hes not really fat (come to think of it theres not as many fat eaters as there use to be)…and he is an up-and-comer who has done pretty well so far ie: Wing Bowl,Waffles and he is a family man and works for the U.S Postal Service,that has Oscar written all over that script

Yeah, this is a documentary that could have been made years ago, but probably not now. Why not focus on someone who’s very close to getting it? Or any personable up-and-coming rookie (I don’t know why “fat” would be a prerequisite–that’s weird). I also agree that picking a specific qualifier is probably a bad idea. This whole idea needs a little more research!

I also recommend US MALE. He has a golden heart bigger than Pat’ B.’s stomach and the excitement of a kid on XMAS (and I’m NOT calling him a kid, he could snap my neck) This guy just loves life and will take all comers no matter how tough. He’s new to CE in some respects but not new to taking things on head-on. You just better be wearing Eagle Green.
I’d totally watch his movie……

Thanks Steakbellie, totally appreciate the kind words. I am totally pumped about getting ready for the Nathan’s qualifiers and would definitely do something like this if the Shea’s were all for it.
If I am up on that stage, I plan on displaying my being a hardcore Eagles fan (as in Dallas for Waffles last year).
