Maybe he won at one of the other hot dog eating contests going on down there during this festive weekend, the Nathan’s one isn’t supposed to start until noon…still another 25 minutes away.

I heard he went a few days early to prepare and get tips on how to swallow better. Looks like it paid off. Is 17 the lowest qualifying number now?

I hope the results are accurate and Kevin did win. If 17 is the winning number, so be it. He stills goes to Coney Island and gets exposure on ESPN. You get to watch on TV, like the rest of us.

Just got back in from SF. I’m very excited to be going to Coney island, especially after my near win in Dallas where I thought I had blew it for this year! I just wanted to thank everyone that sent me encouraging words to give it another shot. It was worth the 8 hour drive each way. I know that my winning number is not impressive, but it’s tough not to play it safe when you’re ahead by at least 5 dogs most of the time. I wanted to win, not to set a personal record. I’ll save that for the big show on the 4th! I’m just a country bumpkin who has never even been to New York city, so I’m very excited to see it for the first time. See y’all there! BTW, you’re all right that the San Francisco and hot dog eating jokes write themselves. Oh, and Superpaul, I do plan to wear very dapper attire!

This is the last year mediocre or overranked eaters will get a free pass to the qualifiers . Mandatory 25 dogs or more make it to the finals. No more calling Kate Westfall asking who is going where. None of your fu– biz. Worry about yourself . If you can do the job you wouldnt be askin in da first place.
