Juliet Lee wins Atlantic City Nathan’s qualifier

George Shea has posted the top three from today’s qualifier at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City
1) Juliet Lee 30.5 HDB
2) Pat “from Moonachie” Philbin 26
3) Allen “Shredder” Goldstein 23

This makes Juliet Lee the second woman to break 30 HDB.

Pat Philbin is already twittering from the contest site.

    To be fair, I wasn’t there so I didn’t get to see exactly how much debris there was. But if it was anything like it was at Krystals, then Pat should have won. The officials should not be as hesitant as they are when it comes to making deductions.

    Props to all the eaters who hit the Deuce and beyond, especially Steakbellie. Was glad to be a part of such a competitive table. The Beach Bar was a great location to stage this event and amzaingly enough, none of you anonymous pukes showed up to tell me how bad I am to my face.

    I’m laughing that US Male thinks he had a terrible day on his first Duece! Congrats and good for you to do it before family and friends. You certainly kept me on my toes.

    As nice as Dorney Park was, Atlantic City was exotic. Trump Plaza sets up a bar on the actual beach every summer. A huge amount of decking, umbrellas, cabanas, and bar after tiki bar. Huge Palm trees trucked in from Florida to spend their last summer in the sands of New Jersey. The place was packed.

    Truly this was a contest of my rivals. Eaters like Philbin, Reeves, & Shredder who have always been better than me can be counted on to bring their A game. These guys were intense yesterday and helped push my PR up by .25 HDB. (At that rate of improvement I’ll hit 50 in just under 1,000 years)

    Buffalo Jim’s daughter won the Neat Eating Contest again.

    I think Wild Bill had a PR or close yesterday, great to see the Wonderful Melissa as well. BB had a respectable 13 but I know that he always wants to do better. Havent seen Philly guy in over a year so I was glad he made it out to the local.

    The most important thing to note is that George continues to be stringent and fair in the judging. He and Randy from Nathans went through all the plates and cups and I believe he made a few deductions on people failing to clear after 30 seconds past contest as well.

    I see a few comments about Juliet in this string concerning neatness. I ate next to her and was able to see it all. George and Randy reviewed her area and made whatever deductions they saw fit. 30.5 HDB was a fair number and in my estimation she may have eaten more than that.

    Trump Plaza provided an AWESOME trophy for Juliet and she was as fun and gracious with the crowd as always. I hope it returns to AC next year!

    Sunshine, Beer, Bikinis and a Hot Dog Contest….How awesome we are to live in this Country!

    SB, I was just being sarcastic to the anonymous post about having an off day. I was thrilled with reaching my goal for the qualifier and will definitely improve and hopefully win my next qualifier (go ahead anonymous posters, say your lame thing about how I won’t).

    The table at clams will be full of excellent eaters once again so I know someone will push me harder to do well. What a thrill to be between Steakbellie & Wing Kong on stage yesterday. They pushed me big time plus it helped to have alot of friends and family in the crowd. I have to apologize for getting Wing Kong wet with fruit punch during the entire event. He is a stickler for neatness.

    Was Sticky Pete really there? I did not even notice.

    US Male not for nothing but i could swear when they announced your name on stage , three people cheered for you. One of your cheering section favs was some grungy looking lush that came out of the corner screaming at the top of his lungs with the mere mention of your name .
