Well, it looks like Kobe didn’t beat 2nd and 3rd place. Good job, Pete, Brad, Johnnie, Naader. I think those are some pretty impressive numbers.

  21. Reality said

I hope Kobi doesnt use this to compare to the recent Taco Bell Taco contest results, because that would be pretty maniputive…
The Gringo Banditos Tacos were each weighed out at 2oz/56g each, and Taco Bell Tacos are 3oz/85g without lettuce according to the Taco Bell website

So the totals by weight would be….
    Kobayashi = 4536g/ 9.99lbs
    Joey Chestnut = 4505g/ 9.93lbs
    Tim Janus = 4080g/ 8.99lbs
    Matt Stonie = 4080g/ 8.99lbs
    Badlands Booker = 2890g/ 6.37lbs
    Furious Pete = 2744g/6.05lbs
    Brad Sciullo = 2520g/5.56lbs
    Johnnie Excel = 2296g/5.06lbs

So in a perfect world, Kobayashi ate 1oz more then Chestnut. Shows he’s still got his game!! But the #’s are deciving

Flown out because they thought he was a big name eater. They should have consulted with MLE first

    I calculated that too!!!! LOL
I guess it would make sense that the weight would be different just because the #’s are so drastically different.
I somehow doubt they had it all perfectly weighted out tho… (going to the hundredth of a pound is pretty anal)

  24. NReda said

Not sure why US Male’s numbers were left off. He ate 36 or 37. The contest only reported the places for the guys who finished in the money. So you’d have US Male at 5, Aaron at 6, me at 7, Matt Cohen 8th with 23 tacos.

There were three other competitors but I have incomplete information for them. Jason McLean ate 17 tacos. The other competitors weren’t even announced until today. Jeff ate a similar number, and Cory ate less than twenty. Hopefully the restaurant releases the complete official list soon.

And Chestnut and Janus were hungover, so you can figure their numbers were a little lower than usual.

Great photos and article. US Male is right next to Kobayashi, that would certainly not have happened in MLE when they were both in it. Regardless of how many each person ate, it looks like a great event. It is all about the publicity. Doesn’t matter how many people saw it in person, if it is online, well written and photographed, it gets tons of viewers.

BINGO, Brad & I got flown out for this you jealous ass who thought it was big news to post it. Great competing with Kobi. Yeah, I choked but oh well. Life goes on and I’l eat again.

You’re right Stallion, this would never have happened in the MLE but that’s why it was so cool for me.

Great sponsor, interesting group of eaters and no problems with a messy table, food in the cups or loud mouth banter prior to eating (Boone!)

  46. Anonymous said

    August 5, 2011 @ 10:39 pm

That was prior to the them meeting up it seems. Of course Pete still had bad feelings for Brad but like adults they shook hands, took some pictures, shared some Nutella and did what they were supposed to do in CA. Grudges get you nowhere.

  47. USMale said

    August 6, 2011 @ 10:55 pm

US Male, I don’t mind that you got flown out to compete. You are a good competitor in your own right.

I am just glad that Brad got flown out too. And, after all his videos, got beaten by Pete.

Koby won. That was never beyond any shadow of a doubt. This was a battle for second. Or a battle between Pete and Brad. And Pete won.
