Marcos Owens? The same person who competed in cannoli? Honestly, perhaps there are eaters who really do not know that there are rules about this? I wouldn’t have noticed except that his name just appeared? I do not want to start anything about the snitching routine again though. That is really wasted energy here. At the same time, no wonder people get confused and distressed, especially those in MLE who do really follow the rules. Just another muck-up for them. It isn’t only the money of course, it is the recognition etc.
Maybe it is time for someone to suggest to MLE that they vet their contestants, perhaps have something written at each contest when people have to sign something or other (isn’t there something about we are not responsible if you depart this earth?), something which says if you compete in other contests, whether or not you are currently under contract, etc. ……..it is up to them to write something and present it to every contestant at every contest.
Frankly, MLE is sloppy by not paying attention to their rules and applying them here and there. Others have no integrity by making up their own rules and seeing what they can get away with. It has nothing to do with eatfeats being responsible for anything. Nonsense, each person is responsible for his or her own actions, period.

SI, I think the reason why Marcos Owens got into cannoli’s would be the same reasoning as any other amuatur they let into these contests. Every contest, aside a few of really stacks contests like gyoza, always include 2-3 local talent aka amatures. Personally i havn’t heard of this Owens so i wouldnt of assumed he would do so well. Now that the MLE probably knows hes good, and had good chances to been MLE talent, they probably won’t let him compete again unless he signs in. The same situations happend for me. My friends who wern’t nessasarily competeing at IFOCE level were let into all their contests as “Local” talent, but even though i was local, the MLE wouldnt let me in until I promised to sign.
I can’t speak for the leauge, I dont make the decisions lol…. but i can only assume…

I really wasn’t going to respond because I figured there was no need to but at he same time I figured Id set the record straight. I’m an ametuer eater I had my first ever contest July 29th of this year. I’ve beaten guys who have a far more # of contest under they’re belts but at th same time I’m still no pro. For right now I’m just a guy who can eat a lot. I did the conolli contest & it was spur of the moment I went to cheer on my friend Maria & ended up doing the contest I signed a waiver not a contract. So I’m not an MLE eater. So please before any of you guys decide to jump the gun to bad mouth anyone make sure that they deserve it & get all your facts straight. Not trying to take shots at anyone just trying to clear my name. But at the end of the day people will talk regardless. I’m simply trying to work my way up the ladder

Marcus no need to explain yourself. As long as conti or the Shredder didn’t attempt to move in on you’re woman at the cannoli contest then everything should be fine

So Matt what are you implying? MLE owes you a few independent contests as payback for allowing amateurs to compete in theirs?

No, im simply sayin the MLE allows amatures to compete in contest, and gives no reason to believe the MLE allowing Marcos Owens in is them being sloppy with their rules….
Thats a pretty dumb corrilation to draw too Btw….

Congratulations Marcos on your back to back victory placings. Your last sentence says that you are just trying to work your way up a ladder. Having placed third in a contest in front of some serious MLE eaters and then in a contest with serious “independents” the next day, you should have some good information about your talents and a comparison. If you were to decide that the ladder you want to climb might be MLE, the next time you want to do an MLE contest you should be up front about what you have done and make a decision then. Otherwise, you are setting yourself up for criticism and perhaps disappointment. Given recent attempts by some eaters to hide their identity in contests just makes it harder for those who are trying to understand and follow the rules. Good Luck whatever you decide.

Hey SI, i hope I didn’t sound to much like i was trying to demean your opinion in the first post, i was just puttin forth what i invisioned the situation to be, but i have to way to be sure either.
And yeah i agree with you on that last part about critizim recently….. I feel like everytime a local contest pops up, people are gonna be breatheing down my back assuming im going to go and break the rules until the contest is over….
