I expected Pat to win. He is the king of sweets, and perhaps even better than Joey in that one food category. It was really close among the top three.
Without seeing the remaining order of finish, I suspect there’s a bit of a gap between third and fourth place, or between fourth and fifth.
Sonya’s total was especially impressive; she’s not a sweets specialist.

to Dud Light’s defense, he did only lose to one person ranked lower than him and it was only by 1/2 of a cake….the field of eaters was incredible!

Brian, it is great to support someone positively, but starting out with slamming this site and those who post here and then touting your own eating just makes a big messy sandwich. Whatever name I use, you will just slam me anyway so may as well post under anonymous. And yes, I have tried to say things to your face but you seem stuck in reverse, do not listen. Maybe if BB was in the crowd holding up that picture of Dud Light wearing an undershirt, he may have done better. And, with the exception of maybe a local spectator, BB will be dead last on St. Patty day. 3 – 3.5 sandwiches, tops. PLEASE don’t do a practice and post it on you tube.

Notice whenever Sonya loses or finishes behind Bob Shoudt she either shuts down her website temporarily or fails to update it. This goes back as far as 2006 in Carmines meatballs when she refused to shake Bob hand after his disputed razor thin victory

I ate next to Dud Light and he ate well and he was clean…For it being a slow food and his first shot at King cake I thought he did ok…Congrats to the Top three…Rumor has it US Male was in the crowd with a wig on…I personally didn’t see him.

I also want to make a point about people taking ribbing about “low totals.” Frankly, I think those people are smart! Here’s why:
Why torture your body with extra pounds/extra volumes of food once you realize you haven’t a chance for the money? It not only wastes food, but it’s also bad on one’s health, not to mentioned you have to sit around feeling stuffed, miserable, and for what? And that’s compounded if you don’t even like the food!
I will tell you for sure that if I were an eater, when I realized early on or mid-way through the contest that I had no chance of finishing in the money, I would slow down to the pace of eating a Sunday dinner with the fam!
Crazy Legs has been to Nathan’s many times, has several titles, and has fun doing what he loves. Badlands is the same, so is Sonya, but she’s just a bit more intense, which can sometimes be a hindrance to fun (IMHO).
If I could give any advice to Brian D, it would be to ignore the comments and just keep doing what you’re doing.
Try to emulate Legs’ and Badlands’ positive attitude and love of the “sport,” and enjoy the ride(s) along the way.

I’ll certainly congratulate Pat, Bob, Sonya and Juliet. Micah and Pete were not far away from 4th either.
I am most impressed with Sonya and Juliet. Sonya looks funny in one of the photos being bookended by Pat and Bob. I wish they wouldn’t do that to her. Give the woman some space, breathing room!

For Sherlock, just to keep your late night thoughts swirling……I am me, not Hank, not Rhonda. I am a big fan of Sonya’s and also of Rhonda. I have no idea who Hank is. I also agree with Rhonda on the amounts of food eaten and those who eat for fun and those who eat for money or know they have a shot at making money from eating. Those who CAN make money are very very very few, thus, the rest, whatever their talents, do it for themselves for whatever reasons each decides. Fun, enjoyment, community, travel, “fame”, it is up to each and every eater and fan to decide what they get and can get from competitive eating.

Oh my, even OJ Rifkin participated in King Cake. Quite the galaxy gallery of stars and fans in competitive eating. No more slinging that Rifkin hides behind his computer. Those cakes look HUGE, and it really looks as if everyone had a great time.
