Thanks Boykin! The judging got messed up tho. Big Sexy and I both finished with 6 3/4 ended up splitting the check. Originally they awarded Big sexy with the 6th place check. I dunno the judging was off. I took a picture of my plate, just in case. They messed up the count last year as well.

There were problems with the judging? Say it ain’t so! Once again, using a hand-built competition food, not machine made like Nathan’s, and yet they’re still counted by number of sandwiches, and not beginning and ending weight.

i told the reporter i threw up once (AFTER the jalapeno contest) and after my third sandwich i quit due to acid reflex but didnt throw up. i dont know why i am ranked 39, i dont do the rankings MLE does.

anony 1:34 pm. competing in a pro contest last year or at any other time doesn’t mean they are not an amatuer. many amatuers have sat with signed MLE eaters at these events in the past and will continue to do so in the future. The fact that he finished 12th alongside pros and first with just other amatuers shows us vast differences there are between signed and/or ranked eaters compared to the local amatuers.

i mean i don’t know all the rules but many amateurs that have competed in MLE contests including myself. i don’t mean to profess to know the other details but i do know that MLE often invites amatuers to sit at the table.

It is simple…..if you are a pro that means you have a contract signed with the IFOCE. I have competed in a few MLE/IFOCE but have not signed a contract with MLE/IFOCE, therefore i consider myself an amateur where I would be able to compete in both amateur contests and if I am lucky enough, compete in MLE/IFOCE contests.

Contract or not the difference between a pro and an amateur is $$$$$$ not the fact of signing a “contract”. if your stupid enough to be loyal to an orginazation which does not reemburse travel ,lodging, ect I got some slightly moist land in GA. for sale interested? If you sign a “contract” to do only contest within that org and you don’t win money you are a signed amateur AND if you do ANY other contest we have violated your “contract” get it?????

actually every person that competed in the pro event made cash. too jays was awesome enough to give the guys who didnt place $200. so no MLE didnt pay for travel for everyone but everyone who competed was paid. Awesome event, great sponser and i can’t wait for next year!

That’s how it should be, paying at least something to everyone at the table, especially when the total purse is $10K or more.
That’s one of the many things I admired about Krystals finals. The Krystals people seemed to reflect the epitome of decency; they treated eaters like royalty. Nathan’s would do well to learn from their example.
What a tremendous loss. I really miss Krystals.

That’s a great contest and a great sponsor. Krystals is missed. For future contests, everyone should get some payout, even if just for participating. Most pay their own way and expenses. The most money goes to too few eaters.

What is so amazing is that this site is praised to the hilt as gods gift to competitive eating when most of the assholes that post on here have never competed at the table nor to they have first hand info as to actually what went on. But thats ok for they will continue to post anything but positive remarks about Bertoletti wrecking ball or Seiken just to see if they could get a rise out of them. Pat is smart enough not to respond because he is a legend. The rest of you have nothing better to do than to hate on someone because they are stupid enough to respond to you or defend themselves when being attacked constantly. Seiken has never hurt anyone but you continue to attack him like a lynch mob because he speaks the truth about the character of an anonymous figment who calls himself OJ Rifkin.

OJ, look I’m no Gavonne fan and I revere free speech, even though I may disagree with what is being said. However, when a blogger such as BB continually and often threatens violence and extremely vulgar language, that type of behavior should have no place on this website. Particularly, since this site is not age restrictive and could be read by minors. Such an individual as BB should have his posting limited and/or removed. Sure he will just go post on another alias, but I think it sends a good message to others who may want to imitate such behavior. @Restraint pretty much has it right. It’s very sad that one person can really tarnish an otherwise great website just to satisfy his constant craving for attention. I understand that he somehow thinks in his childlike mind that he’s “defending himself,” but doesn’t realize that nobody really cares. Other eaters, including those in the top ten, probably have at least as much right to respond to stupid or vulgar comments posted about them here – but you notice that they don’t. My guess is that they don’t care, don’t live or die on this nonsense, don’t constantly crave the attention, or just have the maturity to simply ignore it. No, sadly only one person feels the need to publicly prove what I’m sure many have suspected privately.
And no, I don’t want a public, personal confrontation – I got over that in grade school. I can think what I want privately and still be civil and decent to anyone I might meet, regardless of how ignorant they may be. That’s not being two-faced, a jerk, or whatever filth name that comes with the usual rants. It’s called maturity.

I liked the “Abuse Room” implementation from a couple of years ago, and I wish it would be restored.
Some of the comments on this site are so mean-spirited that I am often embarrassed to be associated with eatfeats. Unfortunately, I believe that’s part of the intention of the two or three people (the vast minority) who routinely make them.
It becomes a sad state of affairs when, instead of trying to better oneself, a person who already wallows in crap tries to pull others down to his level. That’s not only self-destructive, it’s sick!
I’m sure that’s part of the reason why sites like those of Sonya and ‘Legs’ don’t have a blog. They’ve used good judgment. Furthermore, what makes those two, as well as Badlands, Tim Janus, Sean Brockert, Big Sexy and a few others very special is that they don’t dwell on negativity. They adhere to the old adage, “praise in public, chastise in private;” they have respect for both themselves and their competitive eating brethren. All the women in CE behave likewise—-hats off to them!
Nothing good ever comes from ill-intended comments. They only breed contempt and tear away the fabric of comaraderie that competitive eating used to be about.

Correct it was to say that people couldnt freely say whatever they wanted to on air because it was being broadcast into homes where children were being exposed to it. It didnt include the internet because the internet wasn’t available then but take the ruling for the reason it was implied. You cannot freely use language like that and have it be brought into peoples households, well the overwhelming majority of households have computers and internet accsess and as far as I know there is nothing on this site that stops minors from freely accessing it. So anything said on this site is being “broadcasted” into homes world wide so maybe we should all be adults about things and show some sort of refrain.
