OJ, you shouldn’t have lumped that “post contest bowel movements” Deadspin article in with all this other coverage. That’s a funny and insightful piece of work, deserving of its own thread. Seriously. Quotes from Janus, Pat, Joey and others about the most contemplated yet unasked question in the sport. Hilarious!

That “Awful Announcing” article was funny too. It confirmed what I thought I heard George Shea say during Joey’s intro: “He has God’s user name and password, and does with it what he pleases.” Oh brother.

I read the deadspin article. If i was to guess the top 3 eater was either Joey or Pat I know both of them earn a decent living in competitive eating but is it really worth it playing with your life when you have to go to the hospital for something other than natural causes. Very stupid if you ask me. 2 or 3 gallons is not enough ? They have to go to the extreme and destroy their kidneys and other vital organs for what? The love of the sport? Or the love of a few thousand bucks? . When an eater tells you he never throws up that is hogwash. Some cannot like Shoudt or Juliet but the majority of them throw up but they will never admit it cause its a macho thing with them or they got caught doing something they are embarrassed about

What do you mean when you say Shoudt and Juliet cannot throw up?

Juliet and Bob have gone on record saying they are unable to throw up after a contest

And other guys have gone on record saying they don’t throw up. Neither statement make guarantees it’s true.

I don’t see logic. Is it that shameful to admit you throw up?

Why does thye IFOCE allow eaters to accept appearances on national TV when all hosts do is make fun of competitive eating. Even major network hosts treat it as a farce, and that’s indicative of why it will never sell as a sport. All the stupid comments here are by people who know that and kick it to the curb. Competitive eateing is no better than a carnival attraction made popular by weirdos. The top competitive eaters are right in there with the bearded lady and the human mermaid.
