How is this jamie McDonald supposed to stay in tip top shape when every time you look hes competing in another contest?

This could be embarrassing for Bertoletti. Pete decided to save face. Pat will soon learn.

Hahaha, first the burgers, next the ghost chili burrito, now the pizza contest. It seems every time there’s competition, Pete is out.

I always question Bertoletti’s and Chestnut’s numbers as they eat like slobs with debris falling left and right. Kobi, Stonie, Jamie, Molly, and Sudo are the neatest eaters in the game.

A lot of people started out eating neatly, but as people push the envelope ever so much more without getting amply penalized, the trade off between eating neatly and not becomes very favorable to eat sloppier and sloppier. If you don’t your placings will suffer. Case in point is that Joey and Pat both started off eating fairly neatly for the first year or two and they became sloppier and sloppier as time went by. Bertoletti used to splash red liquid all over the place and even got it on people standing next to him to the point that it became a detriment just to be next to him in a contest. Joey always looks like he is dying when he eats and debris flies everywhere. As neat as Kobi has always been, even he got a little sloppier as the years went by, but he remains one of the cleaner eaters. Having said that there is not one person who does not leave debris in cups or outside of thems and since comp. eating is sloppy to begin with there will always be complaining and finger pointing. I don’t think it is as bad with picnic style eating as it is when you are allowed to dunk.

Joey could care less if he lives or dies . He made that commitment when he got into the sport

Koby is a neat eater? WTF?

The problem with competitive eating is that there is no ultimate goal to reach within the sport. Joey beats Miki , Miki beats Joey . Who cares? So then what? In football teams play the 20 games or more to hopefully reach the Superbowl. In baseball it’s the world series. In basketball its the NBA finals. In competitive eating ??????

12:29, It’s Nathan’s. The other contests don’t matter. They exist only because Nathan’s captivates people.

That was the beauty of the US Open but that is gone forever.

10:32, what’s so bizarre about the fact that Kobi is a neat eater? Have you seen him in pizza, wontons, hot dogs, etc? Wontons especially, just look up the old CP Bangkok competitions between him and Joey.

US open never did well in the ratings. ESPN takes enough of a gamble every year with Nathans Joey and Kobyless competitors

Alka Seltzer planned to bring the US Open back in 2006, but their overlords in Germany forced them to drop it

Bit of trivia . Sounds like something similar to the Batman TV series of the 60’s . After being dropped by ABC after 3 seasons , NBC was willing to bring the show back in 1969 but all the stage props were destroyed and NBC wasn’t willing to spend 800 grand to create new ones.

Anon at 449. Neat eaters don’t puke on themselves and then shove the barf back in their mouths. Kobi is as messy as anyone else.

12:59, it seems all you pay attention to are numbers. Watch the video in this very thread and you’ll realize how easily distinguishable the methods of eating are between Kobi and Bertoletti.

Kobi is still and likely always will be the master of being an eating machine, clean and methodical. The reference to his re-intake at the end of the contest is something which has been done by others. That too was done neatly.

Kobayashi is the one and only living legend. He remains the best in the game, even after 12 years. I have endless respect for both his ability, as well as Koby as a person. A lot of people out there would do well to try to use him as an example.
