Why do I bother? Because it’s fun! And now I get to stand up on a stage in front of a whole lot of people on the Fourth of July! I never claimed to be any good at competitive eating. But I love it!

Hearty Congratulations Val! You have been such a longtime fan of competitive eating and completely involved in the sport in wonderful ways and all over the world. You will be on stage and seen by gazilions. Few people ever have that opportunity. Your photographs are fantastic, your spirit is terrific. Well done, well deserved. Eating ten hotdogs to get your way paid? Overrated. You already have organized your life on your own and it just keeps getting better and better.

She does not get a free trip to NYC. Read the rules you ill informed asshole. Females need to eat more than 10 hot dogs and buns to get the free trip. Its on her dime DUHHHHHHHH

In order to get flown to NYC you must meet or exceed the 10 hot dog and bun minimum. If you don’t, you must pay your own way. Either way I support Val because she enjoys competing!

As if Val needed more support which she does not, the same things keep getting repeated. She herself said that she would be paying her own way on her blog. Val loves competitive eating. Val will be on THAT STAGE on July 4th. Val is AWESOME. Some comments are just leftovers and angry debris spewed out of jealousy. VAL! Val! VAL! Cheer and say it. She’s going to Coney.

Val is a major shot in the arm for all competitive eaters. She sets the example for aspiring, as well as proven, gurgitators, with her vital spirit and unrivaled enthusiasm. Many should follow her lead!

Thanks to rake for the great piece as always!
Now that the non sense has been removed from this thread. I just wanted to say that Bally’s does a fine job of hosting an event, and A-train is a monster for eating 27 of them hot dogs. Don’t let his numbers fool you, there was something about them dogs that made them tough to go down. Val may be the most excited person I’ve ever seen at a table and deserves her spot on the 4th. I had a a great time competing in Tunica, and I can’t wait for another shot to qualify.
