Joey Chestnut retakes title with record 70

update Jul 8 The Guardian has a gallery

The Daily News has an article about the attack. Three protestors, who disguised themselves as fans, were taken in to police custody after taking the stage.

Protesters also apparently tried to jump Crazy Legs Conti near the start of the contest which required police intervention. This is probably the reason for the one hot dog performance.

Dan Katz reports that protesters from PETA knocked over his plates and threw fake blood on him.

The top 8 | 9-16
1 Joey Chestnut 70
2 Matt Stonie 53, 9 less than 2015
3 Carmen Cincotti 42
4 Gideon Oji 38
5 Geoff Esper 37.5
6 Adrian Morgan 36
7T Yasir Salem 31
7T Erik Denmark 31
9 Rich LeFevre 29
10 Marcos Owens 28
11 Juan Rodriguez 27
12 Eric “Badlands” Booker 25
13 Brian Dudzinski 24
14 Steven Schuster 16
15 Dan “Big Cat” Katz 12
16 Crazy Legs Conti 1 (protest performance?)

Joey Chestnut has regained the title with a finals record 70 hot dogs

This will be a big hour for Bay Area sports. Kevin Durant has decided to join the Golden State Warriors and San Joseans Joey Chestnut and Matt Stonie should finish top 2 barring a shocking upset.

Joey mentioned stonie has to qualify now, why would stonie have to qualify if he’s a former champ when joey didn’t have to this year?

Joey. Wow! His intensity was amazing to watch. Massive respect for his dedication and competitive drive. He keeps the contest from getting stale. Without him, Nathan’s and MLE would be begging for Kobi to come back. He didn’t have to do 70 and that makes it all the more impressive that he went after that number. Coney is a huge part of his life and I’m glad he won today.

If Seiken got a bye they would have protested by throwing mouthwash an deodorant on him.

5:17 everything’s an easy target for Isis, don’t let them install terror into your mind because when that happens their job is successful

My hat goes off to CLC. He thwarted the attempt of the protestors to go toward the center of the table, giving up all chance for him finishing high enough for any money whatsoever. He put others before himself. That’s admirable. I think it’s a real shame that others fail to the simple truth.

I stand corrected and apologize for calling Crazy legs an ass. Just saw video. Good for him for going straight at those jerkoff Peta pieces of shit. Guess his area was tainted with red shit from the protesters and that is why he did not continue. Way to go security.

They got what they deserve I for one am glad the vegans stormed the stage. Not one of you sorry asses protested the fact that Seiken was dumped from the rankings. It took two retired eaters to come to his defense while the rest of you only care about eating hot dogs . You could have said something to those greedy sheas but no stuffing your face is more of a priority

  21. anonymous said

I would have loved it if the vegans knocked that dopey looking straw hat off Sheas head as he was about to say “Ladies and Gentleman” then yank the mic from his hand and sing Dr Dolittle “If i can talk to the animals”

Conti should have ate 11 in protest of Seiken

Seiken was dumped from the rankings because of poor performance, inactivity and making ultimatums for which he should have kept his big mouth shut. I for one am glad he’s out. He made his bed bug infected bed, now time to lay in it.

Chestnut seems to have been doing very well. It’s nice to see him do so well and his confidence during some of the interviews created some entertaining moments. It is a shame Stonie did not have one of his better days but his performance was still great. Props to Cincotti for putting up that big # again, and Oji has a nice progression going on. He really confused me with that Denmark entrance. Hahaha.

Most comp eaters when starting out have social lives and girlfriends with the hope of one day getting married and starting a family but as time wears on some not all become immersed and obsessed with it. They grow grizzly adams beards like Chestnut and Conti and cease all communication with the the opposite sex because their past or current girlfriends cannot deal with it

Goldshit must be so jealous that Seiken made mucho money working on July 4th and prior to that he played a $100 buy in tournament at Borgata final tabled for 5th and collected an additional $267 ha ha ha ha ha ha Go eat some criff dogs if you can find them in the store
