I need to save this post. I said a year ago Chestnut and a few other of the top eater make $100,000 or more a year. This quote proves me right.
Oh, and Erik Lamkin: shut the fuck up about how people shouldn’t be concerned about what celebrity eaters make. Have something to hide?

So if that statement by Chestnut has any validity to it he made an additional 250k along with the 53k he made in contest earnings over the last 365 days? Where is that additional 250k coming from? Certainly not endorsements , certainly not YT videos certainly not from the Sheas. Sheas pull in close to 250k doing Nathans but a portion of that lump sum is split up to pay their employees. I think that 300k is a widely exaggerated figure 100k sounds more believable

Competitive eating has yet to reach the stature where even their top eater is making over a quarter mil per year. If by some stretch it happens to be true then I can understand why he takes this very serious. I believe the Shea’s told him to inflate his salary for the media

Joey frequently makes appearances at sports games and broadcasting events. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he is paid more for appearance fees than what he actually earns in competition.
