What low numbers for the men, a very soft qualifier.

It was a soft qualifier, but I don’t think CLC or Hartman could have won.

Liz was probably allowed to compete because they need women, and because she needed to eat 10 at least to have her trip paid for so she wanted to try again (she only ate 9.5 in Nashville last October).

9:20: You accidentally posted that in the Louisville qualifier forum, not Las Vegas.

this needs to stop the way women get just the opposite of the short end of the stick when it comes to Nathans finals. Expenses covered with 10 hdb? Let them compete against the men like the old format and do away with this stupid woman contest. They get zero exposure anyway from espn except for the espn internet which nobody bothers watching .

9:41: Why do you care what expenses MLE covers?? Focus on becoming a better eater rather than worrying about others.

@12:41 Why can’t he focus on both: becoming a better eater AND the lower standard that the women are held to?

5:30: Because it’s none of his business, that’s why. No need for more patriarchy in today’s world.

10:22: He is actually 73, if you are speaking of Rich Lefrevre, who went to the Las Vegas qualifier.

In the video above, Sam Barclay says Matt Cohen is a sweets and candy specialist, but he was making the transition to meats during Saturday’s qualifier, which is extremely difficult to in the sport of competitive eating. But he did so in spectacular fashion.
IIRC, Michelle Lesco also made the same transition, having won that sugar overload sweet challenge in Tucson before joining MLE.

How tall is Ethan Teske? He look 6’5″ or 6’4″ or so in the contest. I didn’t realize he was that tall.

Huh?
http://nypost.com/2017/04/28/confessions-of-a-competitive-eater-ive-put-on-10-pounds-and-feel-sick/
“Seasoned veterans meticulously arrange their multiple cups of fluid; one contestant opens packets of ketchup into water.”

“Elated but exhausted, Stevie Palmer knows that the competition is a dangerous spectacle.
“The final in July will be the last time I’ll ever do it,” she says. “I’ve put on 10 pounds in two weeks, and my face has broken out. I feel awful.”
If it’s so awful, why are Americans obsessed with eating competitions?
“Americans in general just love to eat big portions, and we’re so fast-food oriented,” she posits. “The entire idea leads to something as ridiculous and outrageous as this.””

Then why is Stevie even participating in the contest?
