Congrats Miki on another big win. Mayoi Ebihara was a great addition to the contest this year! She was a ton of fun to watch and pretty cute too, hope we see more of her in upcoming contests!

How did the counters mess up so badly that they had Miki and Ebi both tied after 10 mins. What a joke. Let’s rewatch the video footage to get an accurate count. Counters have only one job, and they couldn’t do it. They need go Pros in front of every eater to slow sure there me no funny business going on…

i think Molly made a pact with Miki awhile back that she would not enter the womans contest because she didn’t want her toes stepped on. Molly would defeat her handily and all of those 9 trophies and money would belong to Molly

I don’t think Miki even talks to Molly. I would not doubt if there’s a plan to enter the ring. The independent circuit offers Molly nothing anymore. If I was Miki I’d definitely not push.

Top independent eaters don’t join MLE for one reason–their contract is absolute garbage and they can make more money on their own with youtube/other content and running around the independent contest circuit… Matt Stonie doesn’t even have to compete anymore because of his social media /YouTube success. If Webb is smart, he’ll do the same thing–use MLE circuit to get better/faster for a few years, than transition fully to social media. I don’t know that Webb will be able to achieve what Stonie did in a such a short time though.

I think that is a pretty dumb statement . MLE is the big leagues . You get all the publicity, especially on July 4 . Even if its streamed on ESPN 3 .

I think Stonie had a shelf life and I think he would agree on this . Eating copeous amounts of food is not for everyone. James Webb, his body was built for the long haul . He can definitely eat .
Regarding the YouTube/ MLE / Independent argument . Well , some people have careers . They don’t need or even want YouTube money . Some people set goals for themselves and try to achieve it . MLE has July the 4 th . That’s the top prize . For some , that’s the ultimate goal

Normally, in the “big leagues” / a “major league” org (NBA, MLB, NFL, NASCAR, etc), the athletes get paid what most would say are fair (or above-fair) wages and have their travel to/from events covered (games/races) fully. That is not the case with MLE. Being on ESPN2 and eating a few hot dogs for 1 day of the year is not “all the publicity”. If that was true–people like badlands booker and Crazy legs would be filthy rich. They’ve appeared at the contest so many times and it has done nothing for them. Or Geoff Esper, who has been #2 for a while now–nobody knows him that isn’t in the CE world, despite him being runner up on July 4th so many times and even beating Joey C. regularly in a handful of contests. Being on ESPN2, 1 day per year for about 15 minutes total each year does nothing for your own brand unless you are 1) Joey Chestnut and have dominated the sport with countless new world records for over a decade. When Joey retires, i doubt the next #1 eater in the world will have as many sponsorships opportunities as he did, because they will have to dominate the sport and set new records on July 4th for multiple years to gain nationwide attention.
People know Stonie mostly because of his Youtube success, not his performances at Coney (with 2015 being a notable exception).
The top, non-MLE eaters aren’t stupid. Things will get interesting if Joey retires, but that could be another 8 or 10 years away…

As a matter of fact it would be a shame if molly took that 10th title away. The Crowning of the true Queen!

Yea, but Mr. Shea only considers IFOCE/MLE contests to actually “count” towards records/wins. If it is not a “sanctioned” event, it is written-off by him as a real eating contest. That is how he is able to say things like: “the world record for hotdogs and buns by female is 48.5”
And just remember, half of what is “said”, but not proven/observed, in the CE realm is not true. As an example, in a YouTube live video that MohMotion uploaded last night, he claimed he can eat more than Joey Chestnut (but just not as fast).

5:06 Conti never gets paid for his appearances from eating documentaries like 30 for 30 and from what i gather he could care less. His travel expenses are not covered and that i agree with. AS far as Booker Youtube and certain sponsors take care of his expenses . He makes a boatload of money doing chugs When you average hundreds of thousand views and a million plus in subscribers, you dont need MLE

@9:46 this makes no sense. The NFL, MLB, NBA don’t recognize records outside of their sanctioned events. It doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate them…..but why bring them up? Does MLB recognize Japanese baseball records? I didn’t think so

@ 8:23 think a little bit deeper. The only difference is that all the best players come to play in the NFL, MLB, NBA from across the entire world. That’s why all of the actual world records are within those organizations. For soccer, its a bit different–FIFA would be the appropriate benchmark I guess (not MLS obviously).
The difference with pro eating is that all of the best eaters are CLEARLY not within MLE. So I think G. Shea and others should specify the contest records they advertise and use during eater intros should specify that they are “MLE” records, not necessarily world records / all-time records. It’s not a big deal either way, as we all know who the best short-form/contest female eater in the world is.
@2:09pm. And why would Molly and Miki have such an agreement? That is kind of a ridiculous statement to make.
