Has anyone else noticed how emaciated webby has gotten in the face? His muscle tone is getting awfully sketchy.

Yep, Tanner has been traveling to the last few MLE events and has beaten some ranked eaters. Possibly MLE rookie of the year

Yea, he’s the newest “Joey chesnut wannabe” to join MLE. Not sure how this guy affords to travel across the country to all these contests every week. He must’ve come into some money somehow, or he’s putting himself in debt doing all these contests.

Dude is hooked on the CE lifestyle, and I think every time he manages to finish in the money, it’s just positive reinforcement for him to keep going. Maybe he’ll become the next Carmen, Darren, or Esper. He’s got a long way to go before he gets up to the next tier of eaters tho. 182 donut holes is respectable, sure. Webb ate almost twice this amount though.

To say Tanner might possibly be rookie of the year is an insult to legitimate past rookies of the year, like Stonie, Darren, and most recently JWebby. Tanner is indeed a rookie, and yes, he has placed in the money for some events, but he’s also pretty much the only rookie eater to attend more than 2 events so far this year.

I think we can all agree that he’s a step above the long list of MLE eaters that basically are only in MLE for fun, and not to truly compete. Who are some other eaters that are new to MLE in 2024 and have done more than one event??

    623 is Tanner

Yasir Salem has done two contests after a six year absence. That is the closest thing to another rookie who has done multiple contests.

Yeah, I don’t think that Yassir would be considered a rookie since he was previously competing in MLE. if that was the case, you could argue that Pat Bertolotti could be rookie of the year when he returned to MLE in 2022

Agree with 843a — For rookie of the year an eater can’t be previously in MLE and then come back since they would have already been known. As far as the rankings go, seems like there are some other eaters that should be ranked that don’t see in the rankings

    Rookie means first year OJ.

Webb placed 2nd at the Bennys Invitational, 6th at Sweet Corn, 1st Pleasonton Qualifier(with 41 hotdogs) and then 3rd at Nathan’s in his Rookie year in 2022.

Be hard to top that IMO

Psshhh– Webb’s first year in MLE was good, but he was doing lots of stuff in Australia before coming to the USA. How about Pat B.’s 2005/2006 stats? Or Stonie’s 2011 contest results? Carmeen Cincotti started in late 2015, but his 2016 season (first “full-year in MLE”) was extremely impressive.

Webb is the best eater to come around in the last few years, but there have been some other great eaters that have done the same thing as him in the past. That was before the days of TikTok and Instagram too, where you actually had to train for contests, and not just do extremely high-calorie food challenges daily for your “job”. Eaters back in the day had to put in a lot of unrewarded work to get very good.

I don’t think Tanner is even close to rookie of the year. He is tooting his own horn here

Agree that Webb came out at the top for starting out with MLE in 2022 but as @945a has indicated he was already known in Australia. Were there any other eaters in 2022 that were unknown when James started in 2022 ?

@7:28am – High five to you.

@9:45am Actually – for the record… James wasn’t ranked in Australia until May 2022 which was after we arrived home from USA in April after the Bennys and Sweetcorn Contests.

At this time he had only competed in 3 Australian Events and 2 MLE events (this was his Rookie year), his first CEA (Competitive Eating Australia) Contest was in March 2022 (Pancake Manor). Benny’s & Sweetcorn was in April. He’d only been had been doing restaurant challenges and TikTok’s for LOLs in Lockdown prior.

James didn’t start content creation Full-time until 2023.

Also I think it’s inherently very brave of you to anonymously criticise his “training” and “hard work”. The same opportunities are available to everyone. You all have access to the same food as James does. You all have a phone to film on. He just decided he really liked eating and social media more than he liked his corporate job… Given the opportunity wouldn’t you do the same??

“Back in the Day” – not sure when you’re referring to exactly, but filming something doesn’t make you a better eater… Eating makes you a better eater. So go eat??? I don’t get your critique at all.

I’m glad I don’t have a foreign spouse that gets offended and needs to comment on everything about their spouse. How embarrassing.

Kate, you are extremely stubborn, and you should probably research more of the “history” of competitive eating. By “back in the day”, I meant that there were not nearly as many revenue-producing outlets for competitive eaters as there are today. Thus, logical human beings were (for the most part) unwilling to quit their jobs and take a risk on a career centered around binge eating/daily food challenges and throwing it up. (And btw, it seems you’ve taken a step back from trying to get us all to believe that James is burning off all of the calories he consumes. Funny how that works, huh?).

All I’m saying is that your hubby is not the greatest Comp Eater to ever appear “out of nowhere”. Some extremely talented eaters joined MLE and quickly jumped to become among the top 3 or 4 short-form eaters IN THE WORLD. Carmen Cincotti is a great example. His career was very short, but he essentially became the #2 MLE eater in a matter of months.

TikTok content, instagram, YouTube etc. allow James (and others) to earn a very solid living through eating “exhibitions” that draws the eyes of viewers who either A) are completely ignorant to the fact that this kind of eating is followed by purging the food or consumed or B) just don’t care that what the content creators are doing is unhealthy, and instead tune-in to witness the “shock factor”. Matt Stonie essentially was the first person to “monetize” his eating skills via social media (YouTube) to a level that he was able to rely on it as a career / primary income source.

Please, look back through the eatfeats database on eaters and contests to learn some more about the great eaters that came before Webby.

My hubby wubby webby is number one. He can eat 50,000,000 calories and never work out. I found yesterday through ancestry research that he’s related to a kid named MohMotion.

8:31am – Hang on a second, I never said he was the best ever. I just correcting the misunderstanding that he was “known to Australia” because he definitely was NOT known to Australia at all. In fact he’d only done 1 x CEA Contest before he did his first 2 x MLE contests.

You’ve just jumped down my neck for verifying James’s Rookie year (I didn’t make one single comment tearing down anyone else’s trajectory or say he was the bestest eeevvvaaaa) and now I’m ‘ignorant’ and ‘stubborn’??? You’re a tool. Come say this to my face at Nathans, seriously.

7:32 – I think I’ve commented on like 5 Threads in my entire life but OKKK…. I sign on here once or twice a week to read what is happening and scout opportunities for James. As his Socials & PR Manager, that’s my job. Also I don’t know what your marriage / relationship is like (probs not in one) but in Australia we generally support our husbands – yes.

Kate has commented on 5 threads. False.
Kate has never claimed Webber was best. False.
Wasn’t it Kate who attacked others on social media because she didn’t like the results of contests? I remember a few.
I also remember a few videos being taken down because it was very clear that your husband was cheating. Can you explain that?

Ms Webb. Please dont respond to these deranged overly jealous people here. This site is promoting the ugly with comments to ruin competition eating. A real professional way is too have a signin to keep the crap out. If you really want to make it professional you could start a site like this but with professional comments coming from real professionals. Just to prove this I am commenting from jail along with others. Yes we do have computers

“He just decided he really liked eating and social media more than he liked his corporate job… Given the opportunity wouldn’t you do the same??”

Answer: No, no I would not. I would not binge eat and reverse every single day (multiple times a day) as a source of income, with my job title under the veil of “venue promoter” or “influencer”

“Eating makes you a better eater. So go eat???”

Answer: Are you suggesting that other MLE eaters should do what James does for a living? Being bulimic as a “skill-set” on the resume? By now, you would think Randy Santel would be close to the #1 eater in the world, since he has arguably “eaten” more than 99% of active competitive eaters / food challengers on this website. Some people naturally are lucky to naturally have ideal eating genetics–including a large capacity, ability to swallow large amounts of food at once, and jaw strength. James is one of those people that started out from day one with a gifted eating “genetics”, and we all admit he has improved on those over time. But very few people can actually get to his level of speed and capacity, regardless of how much they train. Joey C. trains harder and longer than anyone for July 4th, and that will again become apparent this year.

And no, you’re not a bad person for supporting your husband. But as his Social / PR Manager, maybe you should think twice about the potential young adults and teens he is influencing through his daily challenge content…Anybody that is not educated on what actually occurs in competitive eating might think it is actually possible to binge eat like a complete jackass every day, and “burn off” the calories to stay in shape via a short 45 minute gym session and 10,000 steps a day. C’mon now, gimme a break.

Lastly, you’re not “brave” by not posting anonymously on here. You’re not an active competitive eater, instead just an outside observer / someone that’s gotten a first-hand look at the realities of Comp Eating by virtue of your relationship with one of the top eaters in the world. You have nothing to lose by sharing your identity when posting–you don’t care if other eaters respect you or not. And likewise, I’d venture that most of us don’t care whether you respect us or not. If that makes us all cowards, then so be it. Just remember what your role is in James’ career, and what consequences there may be down the road from all of this.

206 is full of it. Eating contests should be shut down. All of you are bad influence on kids and eaters should not post crap here. This site is supposed to be for the public not an eating club like you presume. You all cannot get along with each other. Professional sports have a good reputation this eating site has a bad one because of posters like you tooting your horn like you important. Why are telling things to ms Webb like you own the league? You are a pathetic loser

Ms Webb yes you are brave because you do post your name unlike all the anonymous posters that don’t. The person who is tearing us down cannot even post his name. Only cowards do this. I’m asking someone to start a site like this but make it professional
