    Pros are not allowed.

OJ: the offer was good last year and the year before. I don’t think it was ever stopped. I could be wrong. The terms changed a few years ago in 2014 I believe, and it is now open to amateurs only.

2 persons in 1 hour for $2,500 total, or 3 persons in 30 minutes for $750 total.

Since I was considered a “pro”, he would not do it for me and someone else, but he said he would comp us the pizza if we won.

This is one of those challenges that it will take “pros” to win, but they are banned. You would have to be another Miki Sudo situation like with Phozilla at Pho 87 for anyone to win it, given the terms.

Another challenge that wants free publicity, but cannot be beat, like the Don Chingon Gran Burrito Challenge in NYC or Phozilla.

I would have alerted you to the change in terms a few years ago to amateur only when I initially investigated, but many of the challenges in your database never seemed to be made over the years, so I stopped for the most part. I acknowledge it is really hard to keep up will all the changes in food challenges, since restaurants and constantly opening and closing, sometimes with multiple restaurants in a chain, all of which have to be verified. Other times it is the type of food or amount, prizes, or time limit which changes. And it happens a lot when there are 3,000 challenges or so across the country, almost on a daily basis. It is really too much for just one person to handle on a part-time basis. Sometimes I have had to spend half a day calling restaurants to verify challenges.

“but many of the challenges in your database” > “but many of the changes to challenges in your database”

The above being said, given that there only are 24 hours in a day, I would prefer that this blog is kept the way it is, with emphasis being on eating contests/results and news articles/comments. Food challenges are the lowest of priority.

    Apparently only to amateurs. 🙁

Technically, the restaurant changed its name to “8 Buck Pizza Plus” after they got rid of their food truck due to high taxes, though their facebook page still lists the old name.
