Possible St. Pat’s Chowdown brackets
I am not sure if the St. Patrick’s Day Chowdown will consist of three contests in which the top half will advance or seven two person contests. If it is the latter, and brackets are based on current IFOCE rankings, the following matchups will take place:
Round 1: 1) Kobayashi vs 8 ) Rich LeFevre, 2) Joey Chestnut vs. 7) Tim Janus, 3) Pat Bertoletti vs. 6) Chip Simpson, 4) Sonya Thomas vs. 5) Bob Shoudt
Round 2: Kobayashi/LeFevre winner vs Thomas/ Shoudt winner, Chestnut/Janus winner vs. Bertoletti/Simpson winner
Final: Kobayashi/LeFevre/Thomas/ Shoudt winner vs. Chestnut/Janus/Bertoletti/Simpson winner

Round 1
Kobay
Joey
Pat
Bob
Round 2
Kobay
Pat
Final
Pat
I predict Pat will be the man to bring down Kobay. Pat bears the Name sake of the Patron Saint of the Irish. Even though he’s Italian (I think) the luck of the Irish will be with him and the Large, Drunk Crowd will cheer him on to victory. Besides its going down in Georgia and I’m the King of Georgia and I said so.

It has always been my understanding that all eaters will compete in the first round, followed by the top four and the top two advancing in the first two rounds, respectively.
Kobayashi is a mortal lock to win it all. If you think differently you’re in for a reality check. I WANT to see someone beat him. I really do. But it aint gonna happen here. THIS is HIS game. This
The real fun will be to see how the others finish, and I have no predictions about that. Anything can happen outside of Koby’s victory. I just hope every eater gives it his (or her) best shot!

That Sonya vs. Humble Bob match-up is very interesting given the nature of their relationship following last year’s controversial meatballs contest. Say what you will about Sonya’s attitude that day, but exciting match-ups like this are exactly why stuff like that is GOOD FOR THE SPORT!

Bubba,
I doubt that anyone can come up with a better argument! I had hoped this would be an open event so that I could view your beautiful Savannah myself. Will you be attending the competition? I’d like to hear the eyewitness perspective after event.

If you’ve never been to Savannah especially for St. Patricks Day you are really missing out. This is The largest St. Patricks Day Celebration in the World. Hotels within any reasonable distance of the celebration will be booked months in advance and will run at a very high rate. In my younger days I was at all of them now I celebrate at home. I also really wanted into this event I guarantee it’s going to be a good one.

I would love to see Pat come out on top. He is a super eater and a great guy. In reality though it would be kinda like the Chicago Bulls (without Gordon and Wallace) beating the Dallas Mavericks.

Ka-Cha!
Great Haiku!
My wife tried to get a hotel room when they first announced it and there wasnt a single one. I was impressed by that. Guess I’ll just have to improve so much this summer, they HAVE to invite me next year!
