Bob Shoudt is disappointed that he has yet to receive any information about the $7,500 travel package from Apple Vacations that he was to have received for winning the Taste of DC chili eating contest.

He once made a big stink about being the lucky winner of a raffle prior to a Nathans qualifier 7yrs ago The prize was a portable dvd player but there was a mixup and he complained bitterly to the person running the raffle

@ 12:57, if those are your views you may be on the wrong website. On another note, its pretty messed up he hasn’t received anything. I don’t know the full story after the fact but I do know you can’t advertise and offer something as a prize and not fulfill your commitment afterwards.

Why would people who trained hard to win prize money share it with other eaters? Other eaters should stop sucking major ass at competitive eating and train harder to win their own money. Don’t be a filthy mooch.

“Maybe he should spread the wealth around to the underpriviledged [sic] eaters”
Maybe those “underprivileged eaters” should practice their craft and actually perform better to earn prizes, and not get welfare from others? You are probably one of those eaters who loses all the time. Maybe it’s time to retire.

I believe that eaters who win a substantial amount of prize money should share it with other less fortunate eaters. It seems that the poster who calls himself Buttkicker took offense to the previous poster and resorted to filthy name calling .If you do not agree with someone , next time respond with dignity instead of ignorance which you are

To those saying that eaters who win money should “share the wealth”, here’s a real life example, since CE cash earning are probably something to which you can’t relate:
Say you’re a high school teacher. You’re probably getting paid more than the groundskeeper. Do YOU give away every extra dollar to the lower-paid workers to make it fair? Do you demand the same pay as the principal (who’s making more than you)?
Generally speaking, whatever job you hold, you get paid what you’re “worth” based on education, experience, skill, etc etc. Simple. Some eaters make more because they perform better. Same principle.
Think, for a second, if you actually practice what you preach. Unless you’re redistributing your paycheck at your workplace, what you’re saying is not only idiotic but also hypocritical.

JFC i guess you never worked for private industry. Wall St or the financial industry to be exact. Ever hear of profit sharing? Nobody is forcing anyone to share the wealth, It should be something they do out of the goodness of their heart . If there were more Italians in the IFOCE you would see more of that profit sharing i am talking about . One word to describe CHEAP!

I have to agree with 925 . Bitching on social network gets you nowhere. Call the source and get your money . Scared to confront the powers that be out of fear they might thrown a fit and terminate your profitable side gig?
JFC said
November 10, 2013 @ 11:06 pm
10:43, your profit sharing example is relevant – and perhaps valid – only if you’re saying that the business (in this case, MLE or All Pro) should be sharing profits with eaters. In your earlier statement, you indicated that other eaters should be “spreading the wealth”. This is a huge distinction, and far from analogous to profit sharing in the private sector.

Did Bob ever finally get that portable DVD player his dad won in Nathans Cranberry NJ raffle in 2005?
anonymous said
November 11, 2013 @ 1:02 am
JFC yes you are correct the profit sharing should occur within the organization you are associated with however since the members are not drawing a salary from MLE , they are not obligated to share anything with the eaters . On the other hand if a Joey Chitwood or other top eaters who are guaranteed a big payday every time they compete, then by all means they could dip into their pocket and show some love towards the lesser competition . Waving around a big cardboard facsimile of a check just to be arrogant does nothing for the losers

When there is a delay in paying out prize money it means that someone other than Bob did not get their cut yet. I think we all know the answer to that one. What anonymous 1:02 above doesn’t get is it’s a contest awarding prizes to the best eaters. Those who don’t get prizes aren’t as good as those who do. There is no reason the superior eaters should share their winnings with those who have less skill. Those who lose either need to step up their game or quit. They don’t need to whine because they suck like anonymous.

if anybody has a beef with not earning money at a contest, then I say renegotiate your lame contract with the organization you belong to. That organization brings in plenty of revenue and they should be the ones sharing with you (that is, if you have a problem with the system). As the unknown poster above said, if you aren’t that good and resent the better eaters winning, then maybe this isn’t the sport for you any longer.
anonymous said
November 11, 2013 @ 5:53 pm
Oh you shutup 152. Does not matter how good you are in the sport because less than a handful will reap the benefits of prize money. With that said the wealth should be shared by the greedy . One in particular is Mr Chitwood

Sure it matters how good you are in the sport. Should the winning super bowl team share their extra earnings with the loser teams? Being the best is what its all about. What fictitious world do you live in?
anonymous said
November 11, 2013 @ 7:28 pm
Uh excuse me you are mixing apples with oranges, Each and every player on the losing team in the superbowl is making six figure salaries except for walk on punters or field goal specialists. Comp eating is not an A vs B team. Its a bunch of guys and gals competing at one table. If the Joey Chestnuts and the Sudos didn’t have those mediocre losers competing at the same table there wouldnt be a show now would there?
Anonymous said
November 11, 2013 @ 7:37 pm
The show would be Chestnut vs Sudo. The table enders are there to try and win, place, show. They decided to show up and give it their best effort knowing that they could walk away with zero. You sound bitter about something.

7:28, I bought a lottery ticket the other day. I didn’t win anything, but some guy won 42 million dollars. By your logic the winner should have shared his profits win me and every other player, since “there’d be no game without losers” like us.
Does that sound logical to you?

I lost a great amount of sleep last night trying to figure out why you insist on defending cheap selfish people that refuse to share their winnings with others that never take home anything. Didnt Tim Janus actually confront Goldstein at a crawfish contest demanding that he share his winnings with others that did not finish in the money ? Oh yes i remember that quite weill. I am not asking to split the prize down the middle or even a 1/4 of the way. Do the right thing as a token of appreciation and buy a 99 cent sympathy card thanking you for taking your time to show up and in that card include a $50-$100 bill . Is that asking too much considering that you pull in $2500 to $5000 a contest. No you just want prance around with a smug gloat that you won . Shaking someone hand wont cover their travel expenses. Shame on you cheap bastard .

whats wrong with America today is the mentality of a poster like anonymous @ 8:14 am. Its typically people like that who feel they are owed something in life rather than earning it. Who in their right mind would share a prize they earned with someone who obviously is not talented enough to be on the same stage with greats like Tim, Bob, and Joey.
Anonymous said
November 12, 2013 @ 9:42 am
Tim Janus tried to get Goldstein and the other money winners at crawfish to pool the winnings and divide them equally among the competitors because it was very obvious from the results (negative amounts of food eaten by some eaters) that none of the numbers were reliable. Janus’s argument was that many people had traveled for the contest (some had flown), and they shouldn’t get screwed out of money. All of the other eaters agreed to the proposal except for Goldstein. In Iowa when they ran out of cupcakes, Tim Janus convinced the top 5 or 6 or 7 to pool their money and divide it more equally among themselves since it was difficult to say which of them would have finished where if the contest had run the full allotted time. Everyone of the eaters in Iowa agreed to that proposal. I think out of respect for Pat Bertoletti, who had a clear lead, they suggested he keep the first place amount anyway.

Who is Tim Janus to nominate himself to be the spokesperson for anyone? He is the last one to bitch about money. He won a rather extravagant prize of 100 grand on Millionaire show , Others are struggling to make ends meet. He is not

Really Tim if anyone should share the wealth its you! After watching this clip you can understand why some people decided not to fork over their winnings at the crawfish contest. Delivering a few slices of pizza to the homeless wont cut it !

After Uncle Sam take and some other crooked fees attached to that ripoff show , i would doubt Janus took home the entire pot unscathed. I would guess after 4yrs he probably has 1/3 of that in his bank account
Anonymous said
November 12, 2013 @ 11:36 pm
@11:31 There are no crooked fees attached to game show winnings. What you win is taxed as regular income according to regular tax income brackets. I’m betting you’re wrong about the 1/3.
anonymous said
November 13, 2013 @ 8:54 am
There are many game shows out there like price is right jeopardy just to name a few that have ripoff stories attached to them. Maybe Millionaire might be the exception but according to sources , that lovely price which is advertised is not exactly what you will be taking home. Maybe Tim aka 1136 could share the truth with us which would make it easier
Anonymous said
November 13, 2013 @ 10:21 am
The “ripoff” stories with the Price is Right have to do with receiving non-cash prizes on which the winners must pay taxes. Nobody wants to pay taxes on a washer/dryer that they don’t need or really want, so when they win a prize like that and discover that in order to take it home they must pay taxes on it out of their own savings, people are pissed and decline the prize entirely, which is completely understandable. But when a Price is Right contestant wins cash on Plinko, you’ll never hear them complain because they can pay the taxes with cash from their winnings, so they’re still walking away with lots of new cash and only paying taxes at the rate of ordinary income. (By the way, this is all very simple and logical. I really shouldn’t have to explain this to you. You should be smart enough to understand this on your own.) If people are complaining about Jeopardy, they’re complaining about some non-cash prize too. Or maybe they’re complaining about having to pay for the airplane ticket to be a contestant on Jeopardy. But that’s a dumb complaint because even the third place winner receives a $1000 consolation prize, which is enough to pay for one’s airfare and a few nights at a hotel in LA.
Who are your “sources”? Paranoia and Jealousy?

@8:54 Maybe you should bet Tim 1/3 of that money that he has more than 1/3 of it left.
