Why, why, why would Gman Joe enter the contest? Let me see, let me see. I’m going to go with because he wants to win, and he does win. There is cash on the line too, so that’s another motivator. You don’t want Joe to win, then you have to step it up and beat him.

The IFOCE is a real business and not a club. While some companies are paid to make Advertisements for their clients, the IFOCE is paid to get their clients in the News. Especially in that regard, Sonya is probably the 1-3rd most valuable Eater in the world. Even when she doesnt win, the clip on that evenings news is always of her eating with the Sponsors name on her shirt. Often the news feeds of her get picked up Nationally. Thats why she’s so valuable.
Paying Sonya to Show: Great business idea.
Paying Sonya NOT to show: Your business is about to go bankrupt for being dumb.
Businesses dont give money away for free. There is no free lunch. There’s no way in Hell they’d pay her to stay away.
If she is not showing it is because she has chosen not to attend or has other work/family/life obligations.

Wow, guess my comment came across the wrong way. I wasn’t trying to say that they paid her to keep her away, I was wondering if they would still give her some money since she did qualify and is unable to make the finals. She has done a lot for CE over the years, and this would be a little payback. She paid to go to a qualifier, and now that she wont be at the finals she wont be able to win her expenses back. Just looking to see that the eaters are taken care of. Sorry about the confusion, I should have worded it differently.

I like Juliet Lee very much. She is a kind, friendly person away from the table, and she’s the best looking eater out there….BUT, I just watched the video of her “triumph” at the Krystal Qualifier. That was a farce. It looked like she was trying to spray the food, not eat it. I was hoping all the commenters were exaggerating, but if anything, they were kind.
Man, I thought I was kind of a sloppy eater – now I feel like Mr. Manners at the table. Bigtime has a big mouth, but he has a right, like Badlands, to be pissed. Erik the Red ends up the most robbed, after Sonya’s decision to keep her day job.

I have to agree with Luther. BTW that link Luther posted of Juliet in the pizza contest really shows her age. I am not trying to be funny but she is far from the age she claims to be which is like 42 or 43. I would say she is in her mid or late 50’s.

I find it hard to believe that in the two years Juliet has been competing, that the judges have given her the benefit of the doubt in every contest she competed in. You mean to tell me that what transpired in Nashville has been an ongoing thing with Juliet since she became a competitive eater? Please enlighten me as to why she is being given credit for finishing in the money most of the time she competes. Are you implying that she is good for consuming 3 lbs of food max, and the rest is a pile of debris that the judges just dont have the time to deduct? Hell in that case maybe everyone should pull the same bullshit and see if they can get away with it . Or maybe it’s the fact that she is female asian and the judges have been instructed by you know who to give her more credit than she deserves so they can build up a rivalry between Juliet & Sonya. Maybe all those factors should be considered. The only eaters that can pass judgement or give a complete and fair analysis of her performance are the ones that compete next to her . The videos are poorly shot and the photos of her plates at the end of the contest are not strong enough evidence to give a fair and accurate estimate of what she ate and what she didn’t eat.

Juliet has been a slob all along, from Day 1, but she’s been getting way worse lately, which is why the outcry has been so vocal. There were many times, too, when her sloppiness didn’t affect a payout or a berth in the finals of an event, and in those instances a lot of people let it slide.

Mentioning her and Sonya in the same sentence is probably close to being a sin. When eating Juliet sets a very poor example and it hurts the entire sport. I hope the fans don’t get her mixed up with Sonya.

You guys are pathetic! Juliet is a beautiful woman and although a messy eater, she has great capacity. She is very deserving of her top finishes but understands her need to be cleaner eater in future events. I saw what was up there in Nashville and Buffalo and will admit the mess was a bit more then the usual debris but give her a break already. She is only human and wants to be as successful in CE as the rest of us. If you can do better, print your real name and I am sure she’ll gladly take you on in a heads-up challenge.

If we’re going to pick on Juliet for messy eating, let’s not forget the two Kings of messy, Chestnut and Kobayashi. If anyone has ever watched them eat at Nathans, there is bun debris everywhere. Numerous eaters have been accused of excessive debris from Juliet to Badlands to Subich to Koby to Brad Sciullo. It happens, it needs to be cleaned up, but Juliet is far from the only one, nor in my opinion the worst.
