The 7th annual Garlicky Greens eating contest will take place (apparently without IFOCE sanctioning) at the b.good in Harvard Square on Saturday. (Registration form)

If this is true, it would be another example of IFOCE beginning a tradition and the sponsor then continuing without them. Does this mean that the current champion cannot compete?

The Garlicky Greens contests from 2004-2007 were non-IFOCE events

For the record, I, for one, learned of this site (when it was known as trencherwoman) using Google Search —-not via BB’s Bits N Pieces.

Perhaps if BB stopped the s*#t-slinging toward OJ and this site, his cause would be better served.

I don’t visit BB.com much anymore, because it’s too damned negative. If I wanted to follow controversy and trouble, I’d just turn on the news.

OJ always takes the high road, and those one or two of you who just bitch and moan all the time about this site should take a lesson from OJ’s example!

I’m with Rhonda. I found Trencherwomen the old fashioned way. OJ put competitive eating on the map and we owe him (or her) a huge debt of gratitude.

As current champion, perhaps Pete will get permission from IFOCE to compete. He gets a lot of good press, I cannot see that it would hurt IFOCE but I am not them. With businesses suffering, it might be good for IFOCE to support those who have supported them previously. On the other hand, perhaps people do not really care exactly who wins or who is champion, it is having the event which counts. What goes on behind the doors of businesses is their business.

Eatfeats is the best subjective eating site that I know of, BB site is good too but can be very opinionated. Both are good, it just depends what you are looking for.

Rhonda i remember when you first started posting. A few words here a few words there and eventually 2 page paragraphs. Your real name is not Rhonda Evans but everyone seems to be used to the monkiker and refers to you as such. I did not leave that comment. There are many anonymous comments that side with me regardless of how hateful they might sound. If i am too damned negative im sorry but i tell you one thing, OJ Rifkin is lucky he or she is not a drug dealer because you know how they are when someone moves in on their territory without giving them a piece of tha action and that is exactly what goes on here. Check out the eatfeats archives from 2005- 2008 . My site and my internet show is mentioned in almost every thread and i truly appreciated the gesture .. All of a sudden it stopped ? Is is because i bitched about some of the personal hate remarks to OJ Rifkin via email? They were nasty vicious remarks that were downright personal. I had every right to complain. The remarks werent directed towards my eating ability either. I dont have to beg or plead for publicity but its obvious this is personal vendetta and OJ Rifkin refuses to come out of the closet with an expalnation

By the way i dont want anyone to think i am ignorant but i noticed 3 or 4 typo errors on my last comment. I type fast without checking my misspelled words. Sorry about that Spellcheck is not incorporated with IE

beautifulbrian should go back and read his own words on this site. I was shocked by them. There is no personal vendetta. Every time he posts this nonsense, more and more people will not go to his website. They might go once to see whatever he is talking about but probably wouldn’t return, like me. Just because someone did something once and even for long periods doesn’t mean they have to continue. Eatfeats posts what it wants to post. Beautifulbrian does the same. It’s a free country.

anony 7:10 to you its nonsense but to me and many others its fact. If the word eatfeces is considered a personal dig to the administrator of the this site then maybe he should go back in the archives and glance through all the negative remarks allowed posted about me that had nothing to do with competitive eating. On the contrary every time i post this nonsense the graph on my traffic site for the month of Sept resembles an individual stock on NASDAQ that just shot up 60 points. To be honest lately its been hard to come up with much on competitive eating since Mrs Rifkin has a gold card subscription to google leaving me with with basically nothing to report but the scraps from the garbage can. Go ahead OJ you’ve conquered all whats left?

Can’t BB get his own little thread here so he can stop taking over other ones? 17 posts in the “7th annual Garlicky Greens eating contest” thread, and only a couple actually about it.

Get the Google Toolbar for IE, it has a spell check button. Just trying to help you out there dude.

BB claims he hates “eatfeces.com”, so why does he constantly keep coming on this site?? why doesnt he just worry about his own and move on, oj, keep doing what you do, comes down to jealousy, SIMPLE AS THAT

BB you need not worry about trying to be perfect with no typos. We all make mistakes, whether it be in typos, misspellings, or what have you.

Also, for what it’s worth, BB you have a niche in covering CE—-your own take on things. You do that well, negative or not, and lots of people are interested in what you say.

You should not strive to have the most timely, or most complete, coverage of CE. That’s not your strength. Your strength lies in your own, thoughtful, one-of-a-kind interpretation of CE happenings.

I remember back when GJoe had speedeat. I often abhored his tone, but the man’s site was interesting nonetheless, not because the site was always first to post news, but Joe was like J. R. Ewing. People loved despising his view on things. That was Speedeat.com’s niche.

Stick with yours BB, and you’ll be a happier man.

The tone of speedeat softened thru time.

It was often the 1st to post news.

I think alot of people liked & understood those views, probably more so today.

Joe speedeat was way ahead of its time. I actually enjoyed viisiting the site as much as putting together mine. I know that Ed Jarvis was feeding you most of the ifoce gossip when you first started the site but it was your howard cosell type approach to the gossip that made it all worthwhile. Jarvis decided after awhile to feed me most of the gossip he was providing to you. After all he was calling the shea office at least 3 times a day. Speedeat was so popular i remember at the ash creek rib contest in 2006, tim janus pleading with you to bring back the site
