Beautiful Brian on WB 11 (NYC) morning show tomorrow
Brian Seiken reports that he will appear on WB 11’s (New York City) morning show tomorrow along with Crazy Legs Conti and possibly some other MLE current and/or former members to promote the cannoli eating contest at the San Gennaro Festival.
Brian has a preview of the contest which contains the eaters he expects to compete against:
This time around some of the old faces will also return. A much stronger and wiser Crazy Legs Conti, a more determined Allen Goldstein, a nearly unbeatable Tim Janus and a very experienced Brian Subich. Of course there will be others but these are the names i assume will be competing.
Don “Moses” Lerman will judge.

Good for you Don! Hopefully he won’t claim to have invented judging, & want credit for that.

Why on earth would handsome Tim compete in the Cannoli contest today where the prize is merely a Belt and “eternal glory” (per the IFOCE Web site), when instead he has a shot to pull down some bucks later today in Houston eating kolaches?
Would Tim win kolaches? No, but he could pick up some bucks for coming in the top four (after Pat, Joey, and Sonya).
I would suspect that MLE supported Tim with a modest appearance fee to defend his Canolli title. With the aforementioned three eaters in Houston, Tim will not only break his previous record, he will virtually run away and hide from all competitors with his final total. (Only his face paint will enable his competitors to locate him.) 🙂

I just want to insert my opinion concerning the La Costena Jalapeno competition in Chi-town on Sunday. It seems to me that most folks have Pat and Rich finishing 1-2. Hey, I’m here to tell you, you had better not discount “The Black Widow.”
Not only does she “not mind” hot and spicy foods, she has a bit of experience with them and can gobble them up so quickly that she would even give “America’s best eater in any poll” “Gentleman” Joe a formidable challenge in his “patented” specialized time limit of 3 minutes or less. I’m not sure, but I believe this contest will be 8 minutes or more.
I like the terminology on the IFOCE Web site: “Pat Bertoletti will be there to cement his position as the leader in the pepper discipline.” Well Pat, just be careful that the cement doesn’t dry around your feet before the contest is over.
Actually, in all seriousness, the event will be extremely competitive, and Pat is, and should be, the clear favorite. It will take a record-shattering performance to keep Sonya at bay.

great segment with Hoff and Crazy Legs. I always enjoy working with both. The sponsors are super people as well . On another note. Those Canoli shells are as hard as bricks. I commend anyone that is able to put up big numbers in this one. These are the Canoli’s from the 2002 contest which is different place from past years. The owner told me he will ease up on the vanilla creme but the shells will stay the same. Nice and hard . Dont worry about the creme just soften the shells. You better have all your teeth because i dont and i think i chipped a moler in the practice. My status as of right now is questionbale. Good luck to all that compete . This contest will truly separate the men from the boys.

One must assume that Lerman emailed OJ after he saw the post and told him to make sure OJ mentions that he is judging the event. Does it ever end?

By the way, Eater X will phone in the results to me at the contest’s conclusion and Rona, Hank and I will post them on Sonya’s Web site.
I’m really just screwing with the heads of anyone who thinks I’m either of those good souls.

I live in NYC. I would have loved to have seen the segment, but unfortunately, I didn’t read this post until almost 6:30pm on September 14th. In the words of Homer Simpson, “D’oh!”
And what’s up with holding a contest at 2pm on a weekday, anyway? Most people are at work or school. I’m majorly pissed that I missed an eating contest — that took place not far from where I live, no less — because the contest was held on a weekday afternoon!
