BeautifulBrian.com goes on hiatus

Brian Seiken has put beautifulbrian.com on hiatus, apparently in response to an exchange with Mark Lyle. Hopefully Brian will resume writing in the near future, but if he decides to move on, let’s thank him for all the work he has put into his site over the years.

    For every day he is on hiatus it would cost lyle an ounce of blood. Thats the way to show the guy support . Don’t blame the guy one bit for not coming back

    There is no reason to shut down his site. I don’t know what problems he thinks I am going to create for him.

    Brian performs a great service for the eating community at no charge and spents countless and thankless hours for what he does with this web site. Even one small thing like an episode of BB’s corner takes so many hours. As someone who has made one of these episodes with Brian, even though the show is only an hour or so, the show takes countless hours of planning and post production that I don’t think those who have not done one with him actually appreciate.

    There is no other web site where you can get all the photos and gossip like you get there and I don’t believe he is out to “get” anyone when he pokes fun at them, the way he has been doing lately on his site.

    I think good natured ribbing makes things more interesting. Otherwise his site would be nothing more than a stats sheet, which would, let’s face it, be boring.

    Whether Brian decides to bring back or site is his decision and his alone, but I think the eating community should let him know just how much we appreciate his efforts.

    Don started this process off above and I am continuing it. I think everyone, even his detractors, who have criticized him in the past, but got some enjoyment from reading his web site, should say so here.

    That will be up to each person.

    Anyone who enjoys reading this site here surely will miss his site, if he takes it down permanently.

    And that includes this writer.

    I have enjoyed BB’s site when good things have been written about me (rare) when bad things have been written about me (usual) & when i’ve been ignored.

    That said, I do NOT ask BB to bring back his site, his vanity will do that. That is, if its not back up & running already.

    As bad as a reputation as I might have, and as much as I HATE to belive that females are as good as any makes in any sport I have to say that i think its wrong for brian or anybody else to throw sonya’s name into the mix when she is not even a part of what is going on with this or any web site from what i can see. i have been antagonistic against donya but i feel sorry for her because shes a good eater. i have to say that she is one of the best.

    The BB website and it’s author Brian Seiken has been the best promoter of competitive eating. Period.

    Wow, that was quick! He’s back MUCH sooner than I thought he’d be. 4 WHOLE DAYS?!?! couldn’t even make 100 hrs.

    I have to admit though, I am glad, now (hopefully) I won’t need to bring back speedeat. Hopefully, BB can keep oj in check.

    BB, Anyone who isn’t a complete idiot knows that
    you would easily knock out or lay out most anyone who attempted to try
    an step up to you. I happen to like people who aren’t afraid of some
    physical violence. Anyone who knows you knows your as real as they
    come. Don’t let these cowards who talk alot and show very little get to
    you. El Toro’s got your back. Glad to see the site back up and running.
