Thanks Steakbellie . I undertook a project that i realized wasnt going to be easy. The good outlasted the bad so far but in the interim i was slandered , libeled and heard words i never read in the bible . I recieved more threats than Hank Aaron got for breaking Babe Ruth’s homerun record. I get a joy out of trying to make people happy and inform them about competitive eating even though its my zany way of doing it and some dont agree . I cant please everyone but i still respect how they feel. Compare it to a comedian that takes the stage but the jokes are old and the audience slowly walks out. If it ever gets to that point i will gracefully bow out and ride off into the sunset.
That Regis & Kelly clip is great.
After all of the hoopla regarding detrious (Sonya, Buffalo Wings) and the refusal to pick it up, seeing Pat B. placing ice cream back into the container at the end is and example of how it should be done.
This time he wasn’t competing for cash, but the same should be done at all contests. Strict Rules.
If Competitive Eating ever really wants to hit the big time, there will have to be more order at each event. The records do not translate well as they are. How can you say Chip ate 158 wings? It’s an estimation based on the idea that the meat from each wing is .5 oz. I wish there was video of that contest.
Some foods, like HDBs can have a record in numbers, while others should have their record in Weight.
But you have to weigh everything where it can be seen by everyone. Even the possibility of “mine was heavier to start with” must be erased.
Congrats again, Beautiful Brian. Here’s to another 3 good years fighting the good fight.
I would like to go on record in saying that Pat B, Humble Bob , Sonya, Don Moses , Crazy Legs& his mom, Ray the Bison, Hall, Gentleman Joe, Krazy Kev, Eater X , Locust , Bubba , Philbin log on to my site day in and day out and and they literally keep it going . How do i know? When i check my stat meter every now and then, the hits range from Illinois, VA, nyc, New Haven, Staten Island, Levittown, GA, Seatlle, Las Vegas, Philly & Mass. These names just mentioned are true addicts to the site and i consider them true fans. If i was ever to go the pay per site route(which i would never do) they would be the first to dig in their pockets and come up with the monthly fee. I thank each and every one of you. Even Kobe pops in every now and then from Japan. Also would like to thank the newbies like steak, eric the red , Lady lenore and how can i forget Rhonda Evans. Of course there are hundreds of fans which log on , however i dont know them personally but i thank them as well.
I don’t deny that I log on to BB.com much more than any human should, (as I believe is the case w/him& others to my site as well) it is highly doubtful I would pay for the privilege.
Beautiful Brian
I am not much of a big eater yet, but i do go on your site. I live in Chicago as well with Pat. So I am one of your fans and viewers of your site. -Domenico
Since Boy King mentioned wings, i had a question??????
What is the whole theory about the WIng Bowl and say for example last wings contest??? Chip eats 158 wings in 10 or 12 minutes or such and such lbs?? What’s the difference with that and WIng Bowl?? probably cleaning techinque/factors I imagine or else Wing bowls #’s can be in the 200’s next time.
Hey Dom, I was always wondering who the sicilian was. I recieved a few comments from you on the myspace page. Thanks for being a fan. I still say that eatfeats is the number one competitive eating website . OJ gets stuff i could never get my nands on. My info is based on hearsay and some self observation but i try to do my best. Thanks
Wing bowl has subjective judging, whereby eaters only get full credit for having eaten all the meat off the wing, at the opinion of the judges. If an eater doesn’t properly clean the wing, per the judge’s view, then the wing doesn’t count.
In most other wing contests, like Buffalo Wingfest, eaters use a different strategy to simply eat the wing meat as quickly as possible and move on to the next wing at the eater’s discretion, without being punished. The remaining wing bones with uneaten meat are weighed with the total subtracted from the total weight of fully dressed wings. The remainder represents the total weight of eaten wing meat.
Then, since the average weight of the meat on one wing is .5 oz, that amount is divided into the total weight. The product represents the total # of wings eaten.
The latter is process more objective and more plausible, since the eater himself pretty much controls his own destiny. That’s why you can eat more wings in contests that weigh totals than at Wing Bowl.
I hope this clears things up. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Rhonda FYI the wingbowl winner is determined way before the contest even takes place. I dont think i need to elaborate. I am sure some of the people that read my comment know exactly what i am talking about
Each site has its own niche. If I want a wealth of information and facts about CE — the whole sport — stated objectively, there’s none better than eatfeats. If I want commentary and a fresh point of view, not to mention recognition for up-and coming IFOCE eaters, there’s none better than beautiful brian. When I just want to hear the Gentleman’s view, only speedeat will do. When I want to read a cleverly written and well thought out take on a one-of-a-kind perspective — it can only be Crazy Legs Conti!
When I want to read about unhumble accomplishments expressed in a humble way, Bob is the ticket. When I simply want to see “Official” results,” it’s IFOCE. And (I can’t leave out my favorite eater of all) when I want to read about Black Widow-related feats and the kindest words for her peers, I visit sonya’s site.
So Brian, for what you offer … you are unique. May you keep up the good work for many years. I hope to see a cake with at least a dozen candles on it one day when I visit your site.
