A press release lists Sonya Thomas, Eric "Badlands" Booker and Crazy Legs Conti as expected entrants in tomorrow's Wild Turkey 81 Eating World Championship. The contest will be held at The Times Center on 41st Street near Times Square at 11 am. Booker and Conti delivered 81 turkeys to City Harvest today. (picture) update Pat Bertoletti says he would have liked to have an opportunity to defend his 2006/07 turkey titles, but did not receive a contest slot. update #2 Pete Davekos, Allen Goldstein and Maria "Edible" will also compete. "L. A. Beast" will be the only amateur. (A video of his turkey training session).

Booker is an eater so its a no brainer that he should be at the table. Conti?? Can you imagine if Conti was not invited? All hell would break loose. Do you think he would hide under the covers and shut the door like he did when he was denied his 10th straight appearance at Coney?

Why would Kobayashi do that again? There is no point, once to prove a point, done and over. Kobayashi wants Elvis or BS? more angry fantasies. Get a grip, go volunteer somewhere or have a sandwich named after you. The BS Meltdown would do. Find a sponsor yourself and ask MLE to remove you from the rankings. Back up your words for once. Why give the amateur a hard time? The people complaining about the invitees are revealing the very reason why they don’t get invited more often, and consequently showing that MLE made the correct decision keeping them away this time.

As an eater did i deserve an invite ? Hell no. My stats showed very little but then again its not all about stats or activity.When you are the only NYC eater bypassed , they are sending me a message Get the fuck out or deal with it! They invite Edible just to attract attention. Conti and Shredder could take one or two years off and their rankings will always be preserved . Shredder could care less about MLE but George Shea loves the guy which is why his #21 ranking will always be there for him unless he tells them to remove him. Im better off taking the high road and avoid slamming anyone for now. Im just not going to promote an organization that could give a rats ass about me anymore. Eveyone wants ne to do just that but i wont . The non invite was obviously a setup to get rid of me in some aspects. The letter that someone on this site fax and copied to Rich Shea might have played a huge role in doing just that so congrat you got your wish Go to BB.com see what you get now. Boy that cried wolf? “LA Beast” has a bunch of Youtube vids under the handle Skippy62Able. It’s interesting that he got an invite ahead of veteran talent, but maybe he’s gonna be an MLE player. The departures of Kevin Ross, Stephanie Torres, and Ben Monson leave a lot of room for new regional representation.

Shredder was invited as a bone to keep him happy just in case he had any notions of leaving. Same way they secure his precious ranking or else he would have dropped out a very long time ago I am sure he will finish dead last and realize he was never the eater he was cut out to be

You’re probably thinking in the right direction reality, though a win for Sonya is not guaranteed by any means, nor would Pat be a shoo in if he participated.
But I think the sponsors believe their Wild Turkey will gobble louder with a tiny woman winning against much larger men, than a large man who tops other men of a similar size.
That’s more reality. And don’t blame Sonya (as some do), she can’t help that she’s little.

Sponsors preference perhaps, Pat has participated in so many contests and the outcomes have become expected. Of course Sonya would be the frontrunner for sure but she needs no set-up. Very interesting group, each different, two women and turkeys distributed for the hungry, whoever wins, all have won.

Anonymous Fan, I agree with most of your placings, except I see Booker finishing in front of Legs. Shredder could finish in front of Legs too, as this is not one Legs’ better foods. Legs is more suited to technique foods like corn, wings, and, as he calls it, low-tide seafood.
