ojrifkin:
I don’t know if those of us who frequent this site have said it enough, but speaking as a “eatfeats junkie” thank you for keeping this site as the definitive source in the world of competitive eating. I know that sites like these can be very time consuming to run and keep updated both technically and informationally, and you have always been fair, balanced and great at what you do. Keep up the good work and THANK YOU!
P.S. Though, please don’t take this the wrong way, but who the hell are you? One of these days you have to tell us. In the world of CE there are many inigmas, yet none is more often discussed and speculated about than who is that ojrifkin? Maybe someday you’ll give us a profile?

I second the part about the great job you do with this site.
Unless you have a staff of at least ten, I think I already know your identity …. it’s Superman!

Who do you think it is? Obviously someone with no life or someone in CE that is getting paid to do this

I really don’t care who it is. I’m just constantly impressed with the job he/she does, day in and day out. Thank you OJ – you probably have done more to advance competitive eating than any single person on a continuing basis. You are to be commended.

Whoever made that anonymous 10:50 am comment did it out of jealousy, and has what I refer to as a “Sh*t in the Punchbowl” mentality.
I’d consider that a lofty complement OJ!

Rhonda, what a shock, I disagree.
Having done something similar for yrs, I mostly agree w/the anony 10:50 am comment.
Though I do absolutely appreciate whatever oj does, even if its a Shea, or more likely, the entire Shea Communications staff.
Besides whomever does this site, only BB & myself (Lerman to a lesser extent) know the effort involved. Its why I quit, & probably why BB complains about a lack of appreciation.
To not have skin in the game & to still do this, probably makes you certifiable.

no comparison whatsoever…….puleeze…..do not flatter yourselves. Sheas? That is ridiculous. Nothing in it for them.

Anon433 has a point. Why would the Shea’s spend hours and hours each week updating and maintaining a website like Eat Feats for an audience consisting solely of competitive eaters and a few hardcore fans? At most, there are 100 regular readers and 30 regular commenters on this site (the most grateful 100 readers in the entire blogosphere, I might add. Thanks OJ!). An audience that size isn’t worth the Shea’s time. Heck, the EatFeats Database alone is a feat of epic proportion.
The Shea’s won’t even spend a few hours to get the post-Nathan’s rankings out until the end of August or take a few extra minutes to record and report full results from contests. I would be SHOCKED to learn that the Shea’s were behind EatFeats.

Joe I believe nothing shocks you. I knew you’d agree with those anonymous comments. You build your reputation around controversy. Controversy defines you.

Joe happens to be correct. There is alot of work involved keeping everyone abreast in the world of competitve eating. When you hit a high plateau its hard to maintain that level day in and day out. There was a time when fans would go back and forth to my site and speedeat. I realized that my internet show was too time consuming and i was running out of guests and material which is why i dropped it You can still access all 26 shows on my site if you have the time and patience to sit throuth them . People werent banging on my door pleading to bring back the show anyway. It was something innovative and new at the time but like everything else it loses its luster after awhile. I think there was more of a cry to bring back speedeat.com which i happen to miss . To say that i complain about a lack of appreciation is right on the money only because i put a great deal of time and effort into my shows and editorial. You cant blame for that now cant you? Besides if i didnt complain about something then something is dreadfully wrong .
