Bob Shoudt training video
In a new video, Bob Shoudt discusses “How I trained my body to eat more food than anyone”. He has the following commentary
I know that this is not my typical content but it does provide a lot of background info. I get asked all the time about how I can do the things I do in my videos. The truth is all this past training makes it very easy for me to attempt any restaurant challenge. Not that I win them all, but if I know what I am getting into then I usually fair well. That said, I don’t feel that anyone should attempt to do what is in this video. It is just not worth it and I can almost guarantee that you will not make any money in competitive eating. There are probably more continents on Earth than there are people making any real $ in competitive eating.

Unfortunately, there will be people ignoring the warnings and the fact they will not get rich. Bob appears to leave out that he didn’t KEEP the water down and would puke it up. No way he’s keeping 3 gallons down and then do it again later in the day. Let alone total electrolyte imbalance in doing so. Can you say heart attack? He doesn’t address the body imbalances that might result by leaving out the information how that is addressed (puking the water up right away).

If he was the best he would do MLE or eat in contests not just for him.

Not only must you be in the 3+ gallon range to be great, but you also have to have a crazy large swallow ability.
I don’t know how much swallowing can be improved on, but I think most average people would be hard pressed to work up to a gallon. (in under a few minutes)
Bob’s fasting ability was crazy. I’d be on the floor if I tried a chug after a 15+ hour fast. (even if puking it out)

I was a competitive eater for years . Then one of the new guys told me I should do water training and drink till I puke . I thought this wasn’t healthy so I stayed away from this method . Any thoughts on water training, any horror stories ? Just curious.

Brian Dudzinksi was hospitalized, and possibly brain damaged, from a water training session in 2014

The official cause of Stephanie Torres’ passing in 2015 was low potassium levels. Water training was the most likely way that could happen

In Stephanie’s defense, she had issues with low potassium and was on medication for it. I can’t speak to whether she water trained. It’s sad to see anyone go that young. Who knows. Maybe she water trained on top of it all.

Water training can be DANGEROUS if you decide to use this method study up on using electrolytes. Using Gator Aid or Power Aid . I’m not promoting this just letting you know study & learn .

She was like 5 foot 105lbs? Some real brainiacs around here. Ya think she had a potassium problem maybe DUE to water training all the time? Good gosh we need to do a IQ check for sure of eaters who seem to have no brain to critical think about anything.

You need an IQ check since you did not know Stephanie. She did not water train all the time. If she did it at all, it was in secret. And even that is hard to consider since we would hang out for hours before a contest and I never saw her chug or even have bottles for chugging. Think before you comment next time. You’ll do yourself and everyone else a favor.

Bob, what was the point of sharing this information with the world at large other than to try get views for your videos? Others could have shared this information too but chose not to in part, I believe, because it can hurt people.

One more question . If I’m eating something a little sour , for let’s say 30 minutes straight , how can I keep eating it without throwing up . I have lots of capacity , but the disgusting sour taste makes me want to throw up after 20 , 25 minutes..

12:34 – You nailed it. Irresponsible especially because HE LEAVES OUT CRITICAL details that make things even more unsafe for all the people who will ignore his shallow warnings. What’s ironic is Bob is in such poor health too being obese, probably diabetic, and on several meds (or should be!). And yet is still overeating for YouTube money. But, hey, he says don’t expect to get rich eat (true) but keeps stuffing his face into an early grave?

I am prone to headaches later in the day after doing a gallon early.
I try to eat a few hours before – which isn’t optimal, but it keeps me from going faint. I also add a generous shake of salt to my fluids, or use at least 12 ounces of sports drink.
If I reach a gallon or more and throw up some, my body holds on to roughly 3 quarts. (so it is not wise to do within 5 hours of a challenge or contest for me)
Some days the body wants absolutely zero part of it and can fizzle out at a half gallon.
There are just too many factors that will vary from person to person.
I believe anyone into it enough to make it into and beyond the discomfort zone is aware of the risks and fortunately the vast majority have no interest in pushing further.
I don’t find it taboo to discuss at all. I mean, they’ve got a lemonade chugging “contest” now. (although the contestant selection process is questionable) Although Badlands is unbeatable by all but a small group, it is a gallon of liquid, and people will want to try.
(reality is, a person is pretty darned talented doing -1 minute. Good luck getting it below half that. lol.
Who’s to say that a first attempt could not drop somebody on the spot?

shout is a big snitch He would call out other eaters without mentioning their names if I he was screwed over in a contest for example the corn contest in 2029 or 11 where he targeted conti and Sonya thomas he was a big sore loser

Respectfully Stephanie was also a heavy drinker and frequently reversed food. While water training could’ve exacerbated these issues…the other two things are more likely a cause.
