I nearly got shut out. I just made it to Buffalo 15 min before the contest. I am shocked that i was credited with that much. Not making any excuses for finishing last but they had to be the worst tasting shit i have ever eaten in my 10 years as a competitive eater. I would have welcomed shit over those wings anyday . Ask Wild Bill. I literally stopped eating at the 6 min mark due to being drenched with red liquid by Brad Scuillo. Wasnt Brad’s fault , thats just the way he eats. Hope to rebound in buffet bowl with menu unlike past years. Chicken fingers, chicken wings(pray its not the wings from last night) chicken salad and chilli dogs. Enema time!

I didn’t know the Buffet menu changed. Sounds much better than last year.

It was a pleasure eating with you all and I will certainly eat with you all again further down the road! Congrats to the top finishers and thanks to Bill for recording the results for us all. Good luck to you guys in the Buffet Bowl today. I sincerely hope the menu is as appealing as possible (i.e. does not include the dreadful wings from yesterday).

Good point, Mom. The general consesus amongst the eaters was that the wings were dry. The numbers reflected that – they were lower than previous years across the board for everyone, including Sonya. The eaters that managed to put up presentable numbers this year (not me!) should be commended.

That said, we need to keep in mind that the vendors do not cook the wings at Buffalo Wingfest – all the wings are made en masse and distributed to the vendors to sauce and serve. It is difficult to cook the wings in mass quantities, and then hold them until we are ready to eat them in the contest without them drying out.

All the eaters (not just IFOCE – ALL) need to just be grateful we have contest sponsors that allow us to do this on a fairly regular basis. THANK YOU, SPONSORS!

Bill, I agree with you about the wings. The one other thing that needs to be said about the lower totals is that they represent a greater level of honesty. This is a definite At-A-Boy to all the wing eaters this year. Everyone actually ate most of what they were given. The top three were around 4 pounds, but all were on their 4th tray, which was 10 pounds given (4, 2, 2, 2 lbs.). In other words, they ate about 40%. The previous 2 years, the top finishers were given 18-21 pounds and finished with about 5 pounds eaten. A rediculously lower percentage (about 25%.) With the growth of the prize money, there’s been a growth in new techniques, like seeing how much crap can be left behind on the floor, or in the form of mushy buns in cups and on plates. The fact that those who showed up this year had enough pride and self respect to make an honest go at eating what they were given is a good sign.

Looks like you need Jammin Joe LaRue to oversee the cooking of the wings.

There is no other food that can be so dramatically different from one contest to another than wings.

Some are the size of a pinky, some the size of a fist. Some tender, others rock hard. Sometimes breaded, strange seasonings, an extra piece on them.

Judging methods: Weighed or by the #’s. If by the #’s what is an eaten wing? Is it the same standard for all or are there different judges??

Congrats to all in the $$$.

Wild Bill is right on regarding the sponsors.
