Registration will open at 5 pm Eastern tomorrow on ifoce.com for the Wild Eggs National Pancake Eating Championship to be held September 29 in Louisville. The purse will be $4000 ($2000 to the winner).
King cake eating contests in Louisville and Kansas City on February 18 will both award $500.
The Louisville Boat Show will hold a wing eating contest on January 28 awarding a Polaris ATV. Qualifiers will be held at Louisville area Hooters on January 10, 17 and 24.
Louisville.com has started a series about eating challenges in Kentucky. The first challenge in the series is the Fat Teddy burger at Chubby Ray's.
A king cake eating contest awarding $500 to the winner will be held in Louisville on March 5.

Liz Gilbert, two time winner of the women’s division in Pete’s Grill pancake eating contest, has graduated from Johns Hopkins and is acting in a play called “Game On” this weekend:
Last fall the playwrights met with the apprentices and talked with them about the play’s sports theme. In those discussions, the writers discovered certain ideas and talents that they incorporated into the piece. For example, actor Elizabeth Gilbert, a two-time pancake-eating champion of Baltimore, inspired a segment about competitive eating. Apprentice Bing Putney’s ability to jump tall objects was included in scenes involving lacrosse players.
