CNN.com has a video titled "Nathan's Marketing Genius" reporting that total sales of Nathan's hot dogs have approximately doubled since 2003.

    Impressive. Although it should be noted that the reasons for that doubling in sales go far beyond the July 4th contest or any of the work the Sheas do as their public relations counsel (assuming they do other PR work besides the July 4 contest, although that could be the extent of their involvement with the Nathan’s company). I’m not taking anything away from the work of the Sheas or the awesome marketing tool that the July 4th contest has become, I’m just saying they’re only small to medium sized parts of a much larger marketing mix.
