I believe that Beautiful Brian, Badlands, Dave Goldstein, Pat from Moonachie (especially Pat, think that whole town is under water), Shredder, Crazy Legs, Eater X and many others are without power or supplies or coping with the huge emergencies resulting from the storm. It seems as if it will take weeks for recovery and some people will not have power or subway or transport for days and even the stores for supplies will not be able to get them. Additionally, people will be out of work if they are unsalaried as are so many eaters. Those who have government jobs will have their income assured, most will not. In fairness, how can LABeast call or e-mail or text, even when someone has that ability, cell phones need charging, internet service is disrupted, let’s not spoil the community by criticizing, let’s pull together as we should.

Speaking for BB Seiken he is impacted big time. He told me he has on and off power but no bed to sleep on and no tv . Just cell. The storm has really hurt many of our eaters

My thoughts and prayers do go out to my close friends and family who have been majorly affected by this storm as well as everyone else who have suffered property damage and loss. All I said was my lights went out and it got reported on here, but obviously I am fortunate and many others who were not so fortunate should be kept in your thoughts and prayers.

I too hope everyone in NY-NJ is safe. We had it rough enough in the DC metro area, but the poos men and women in NY / NJ had it especially tough. My thoughts and prayers are with EACH of them and their families.

I could not bear the thought of something happening to Seiken. He is the most humble, the most humanitarian person in all of competitive eating. He is quick to give credit where credit is due, and yer he rarely asks for anything but a little respect. Brian Seiken sets the example for every competitive eater who wants to be somebody.

People that treat others with unconditional positive regard are one-of-a-kind, very special. Larell Marie is that way.
I certainly do not like, and get very, very tired of, some of BB’s online antics, but I will not hate or condemn the man, only the behavior itself.
My wish for BB is that one day he will feel secure enough about himself to refrain from seeking out attention at any cost, and stop throwing people under the bus to get it.
I actually care about the guy, as a human being. I would like to have a reason to appreciate him for his behavior.

Just because you might go out and have a beer with someone after a contest doesn’t make you “brethren” or even “friends” for that matter. CE is very much like professional golf in the sense that every touring pro is an independent contractor, loyal to no one but maybe the occasional sponsor the PGA that assigns their rank on the tour. Most pro golfers couldn’t care less about anyone else on the circuit unless he or she is costing them money and/or position in the rankings. Anyone who thinks there is some kind of kindred bond between eaters (or golfers) simply by virtue that they’re involved in a common activity is very, very naive.
Most eaters have lives far away from CE, and often wouldn’t even associate with most of the people that they find themselves standing along side at the competition table. If that sounds harsh, it may be, but it’s essentially the truth. If you find yourself in a jam, I would suggest calling a relative or coworker before depending on one of your CE “comrades.” It’s sad that some here seem to expect this to be different, but it’s really just like most of real life – out of sight, out of mind. I have my problems, too. Go take care of yours.

It’s crazy out here. We were without power for less than 24 hours thankfully.
My girlfriends job is toast though. Under 6 ft of water.
I have been working like crazy from home when not running and doing errands.
Mad house in Staten Island right now. We are grateful that we were not affected as badly as others in the area.

With some of the eaters getting bashed by the storm, why can’t you all do some kind of charity event to help out..Even get some guys together and see what you can do to help. Yes, there may be the occasional, “Brian sucks”-type assertion, just to try to get the usual belligerent, “fun,” verbal tirade from you, but they would soon occur less and less, until they were ignored altogether, as long as you don’t reinforce them by responding.

Brian, I think you are right that it’s only a handful of people making nasty comments, but you might be wrongly condemning one or more people who neither comment on this site, nor have any interest in causing you any harm. Positive, truly successful people didn’t get to be that way by behaving that way.
It’s far better to refrain from making accusations at all, than it is to make them and be dead wrong. I suspect you would feel awful if you were able to actually find the limitations of who the comments come from.

How do you know that George Shea does not care. Has it ever occurred to you that he has contacted eaters directly and not used twitter which is public? So quick to judge. Seiken will likely keep naming the same people as he has done over and over and over. He has no more information than he had before, the people he names likely do not visit his site anymore because he has nothing interesting to say there, just keeps whining. Not associating him with every negative comment but really, often he does make himself transparent in his writing. He blames all kinds of people for things they have never written bringing in family as well. That is a shame, he has a lot to contribute but brings himself down by much of what he does.

It is not pretty.3 mile lines for car gas . 2 mile lines in freezing cold for cannister gas loss of life loss of power. Near riots breaking out over a spot on gas line. Now i know what they went through with katrina and this was only a category 1

Why would someone like Beautiful Brian not tell us about Ron and why would Ron himself not tell us. He posts on here and BB tells all and holds nothing back. I find this strange since surely Brian and Ron write to each other. If you feel terrible for him and it is Ron, tell him, then confirm so that others can also let him know that they care. Beautiful Brian taking on a cop and bragging about it is not really such a great idea either. Some eaters are going out to those areas affected and delivering things even though they themselves still have no power. Bicyclers, runners, lots of people are contributing to bring help. It may not be fast enough but it is the elderly, those who need oxygen and medicine and so many other things who really need the most help. I am guessing that most of the eaters will be okay. Help others, you will be helping your own spirits too.
