Don “Moses” Lerman retires
Don “Moses” Lerman announces that he has retired from competitive eating on his blog. Brian Seiken has posted his memories of Lerman’s career. Lerman was the first eater to travel extensively throughout the country to compete in eating contests (there is no evidence that Lynda Kuerth competed anywhere outside Philadelphia) and probably also the first to actively promote and market himself. Lerman’s enthusiasm and passion for competitive eating will definitely be missed on the circuit. Perhaps Lerman could do precontest standup or karaoke (See Brian Seiken’s show for a sample)

You believe that crock of shit? He will never retire. I was on the IFOCE site not a mention of it which means they dont believe a word he says. Lerman was the retirement a tactic to see how many people will wish you well on this site ?

You will always be remembered as a One of the Pillars that formed the Structure of the IFOCE.
You were the One that I followed before joining the Federation and I will always respect the confidence you had before and during a contest.
The new Breed of Young Eaters have really stepped up the competition to height that were never achieved before.
Old or New we all have a Passion at the table that you can only be Born with.
Have a great Retirement but stay in touch with all of us.

Congratulations to one of the best old school eaters, one that instilled fear into other eaters who showed up to contests. Even though you may not have won every time, you set the bar much higher, pushing others to eat more than they knew they could.
You had a fantastic career and more trophies than any other old school eater, from back when trophies were few and far between, due to much fewer contests and smaller budgets.
Congratulations to a great eater and more importantly, to a great friend, on a stellar career.

I believe that IFOCE members that did not wish Lerman a happy retirement or a happy birthday to Seiken’s site have recent or past issues with the both of them or just dont like either of them period!

Don congrats on your retirement. Take pride in knowing that along with Cookie, Hardy, DeVito, Kratchie, myself, and many other unsung eaters who competed before us, your efforts help made the sport what it is today! thank you for always inspiring me to do my best, for being a “Gurgitator” not just a competitive eater, for gracing my second album with your presence, for the 6x Team Don Moses Shirt that I’m wearing as I type this, but most important, thanks for being a good friend! You’re the best Don. Congrats again!
