Erik Denmark on his mother
Erik “The Red” Denmark has a tribute to his mother on his blog:
I am coming back to competitive eating soon and I still have very high expectations for myself this year. I will dedicate any and all of my successes and victories this year to the memory of my Mom. She was the first to feed me and she fed me a lot.
I think I can speak for the competitive eating community in saying that it mourns the loss of Erik’s mother and looks forward to seeing Erik back at the table.

Erik, may your thought of her always be sweet and warm, and please know that as long as you remember her she is always with you.
I wish you nothing but the best in all your endeavors.
Fondest wishes,
Rhonda

Definitely looking forward to seeing him back at the table. With that much inspiration behind him, he’ll be a force to be reckoned with this year.

Erik,
I am sorry for your loss. I lost my mother to Stage IV ovarian cancer a little over 2 years ago. Anything we do in honor of their memories is bound to succeed. I wish you luck, and I offer you my deepest condolences.

Erik,
Carlene and I both offer our deepest condolences as well. We both know the pain and heartbreak that comes with losing a parent to a lingering illness. Keep all of the good memories in your heart and dedicate your future accomplishments to her and feel a sense of pride that she was responsible for raising such a wonderful son.
